Is it fair to say this tournament will have a significant impact on national rankings- not just participating teams, but perhaps some of the teams they've played as well?

BTW, JT- do you have access to a computerized ranking system similar to what is used for college rankings?

The field looks good this year- as it always does. John, in your opinion, does this tournament have a significant impact of the national rankings each year? Do you enjoy making the trek to Chicago to watch?

It does have a significant impact and I very much enjoy it.

About the computer, it simply does not work. Take a look at MaxPreps' Freeman ratings. Medfield (MASS) is in the top 10. That's a nice New England team but one that would struggle in the power states against even average squads.

The only seeding issue that jumps right out is Orange Lutheran, which won the La Jolla Beach Cities Classic over the weekend. They are 13-2 with losses only to nationally-ranked teams.

I wouldn't have Assumption playing Mira Costa for the quaters on saturday morning. Two semifinalists at the best girls high school volleyball tournament ever playing to advance to the only the semis? These two teams should be in the finals. Both teams, in my opinion, are better than JCA.

Notre Dame just beat Sacred Heart tonight 25-22, 19-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Do they move to the "Contenders for the title" list?

Also note that Dublin Coffman (OH) beat NDA rather handily on Saturday. The Shamrocks are LEGIT.

Does anyone have scores of Assumption v. Mother McAuley from Thursday night? I can't seem to find them anywhere. I don't think Phil did a write up for that match. Thanks!

Thanks, ILvballfan. So far, so good. We beat Skagg in 3 and now are up 1-0 vs. Cary.

Good luck to your team as well.

Early Results?

What's the latest from day 1? ANy upsets? Any thrilling matches? Or did all go as seeded?

Also, Mavadad, it's Stagg, not Skagg. Just FYI.
