Props go out to Lafayette for the first match of the season, their blocking turned the tide of the match. St. Joe didn't have their best game and lost. However, the loss opens the door for accepting that there needs to be some adjustments made. There are quite a few more matches to work on that before the time when/if these two teams were to meet again. The way MSHSAA has aligned the districts that potential next meeting would be at sectionals with the winner gaining the right to go to state.

That is how it felt last night at the old gym at Francis Howell. The new gym is yet to be completed so parents and supporters for both teams filled the bleachers as well as chairs along the wall at each end. As I looked around I saw coaches from most of the larger club teams from the St Louis area as well as some college coaches. St Joe and IWA were well represented as well by players, parents and some grandparents. Coach K was present without the microphone - too bad! The #1 and #3 teams from the large school group (#7 and #34 nationally) put on a good show of VB talent.

Guess I better give props to Francis Howell as they beat Marquette in the Finals of the Oakville Tournament on Saturday, going 2-0 all day. (STLtoday has the wrong results for the Villa game). Still have the ugly loss to Lafayette as the only loss this season. They take on the St. Joe 'Angels' tomorrow at 4:30.
