Heather gets the most out of her team, and they put it all on the court that night. It didn't appear that IWA was firing on all cylinders. Probably a confidence booster for WCA, and a wake up call for IWA. Better to lose this one and learn a lesson than lose a win-or-go-home game in the coming weeks.

Watched them a few time now: very weak defense and team relies too heavily on one lady offensely. Lack the toughness they had last year -- team has been lucky to win some of their matches. Seem to have some serious JV talent that bodes well for them. I've seen IWA play a few times. They could beat St. Joe, but IWA seems very irratic. Definitely looks like it will be anyone's match this year.

Absolutely, there are a lot of them: CJA, SJA, IWA, Nerinx, Althoff, Mater Dei, Washington, Lafayette, etc. None of them have beaten each other or other good teams from out-of-state consistently enough to be considered "great." St. Joe's has the potential to be a "great" team next year. They return every key part of their starting lineup. Coach Davis could very well be going for a three-peat next year...

But the rest of the team is very soft, particularly on defense. SJA better have some JV players moving up next year who can play some defense, or else the other teams mentioned above will (some already have) figure out coach Davis' unbalanced formula. SJA is good, but they lack the heart that they had this time last year.

Sometimes it seems that the Angels only keep the tall kids, one libero, and one setter. Don't seem interested in passers. But they're still good. And they'll be good for several years with all of the great Freshmen on the team.

If an adult wants to question a coaches philosophy are scheme I think that is absolutely fine. We are seeing some great young athletes, lets cheer on their accomplishments.

As a club coach, I have in the past avoided participating in these forums, which undoubtedly have parents and players posting. Certainly, we should be supportive of all these dedicated young athletes from all schools. My point was simply that the SJA team had some very solid front line seniors and a team that got stronger as the season progressed last year (coach Davis seems to have a knack for building that toughness). Right now, other than the three excellent juniors, the St. Joe team is very beatable, particularly on defense. That was apparently evidenced yesterday with their loss to Washington. Indeed, SJA has some great young athletes. I watched some of the UA JV tourney this past weekend, which SJA dominated with strong setting and front line play. Future is bright with a crop of high potential sophomores and freshman at SJA. But, for this year, the varsity playing field is very even.

This teams roster, like many of the rosters in the area, is dominated by underclassmen(4 junior, 1 soph, 2 freshman). Last night, at Washington, some of your points were evident, but also Washington played outstanding and they should receive all the praise. Props should go out to SJA senior Laura Powderly, who did a wonderful job under some very difficult circumstances. Let get districts started.

The Seniors from IWA will be on Show Me St. Louis today promoting their "Think Pink" game against Oakville on Thursday. The communities from IWA and Oakville have really come together to support two great charities. They have sold over 350 pink shirts. Should be a packed house on Thursday. The proceeds will go to support the Hope Lodge (affilitated with the American Cancer Society and Coaches Vs. Cancer) as well as The Pediatric Brain Tumor foundation. Fellow Red Knight Taylor Rozier lost her battle with a brain cancer over the summer. Come out and support these two great charities. JV plays at 5 and Varsity plays at 6.

Both district are Tues., Wed. play dates.The district seeding meeting for the Kirkwood district is is tonight, I belive it is a Mon, Wed play date.
