Not too sure seeding is right, but as long as you play well, seeding may have little effect. Except if your in a pool with a team that is as capable as yours.

2009 SCVA 16s. Whats up in Q1? | ||
|
The ever fun qualifier 1 in SCVA. Seedings are always off, but as Robert at SCVA always says, if you are better than where you were put, PROVE IT. The system
will work itself out and it always does.
Outlook: This years 16s is very top heavy, much like last year in the 15s Division. When you look at the initial seedings some things may look off, but as the final at Fiesta Classic proved, they aren't. Long Beach is the defending SCVA champs from this class. They are the #1. 951 Elite, the fiesta classic winners are a perrenial 16s power and have a team made up primarily from a core of their 16-2 team a year ago that was a division 1-2 team. Teams too low? Wave at #7 - This is a Top 4 team. Has been for a long time and will still be. Impact at # 25 - This will be a solid division 1 team all year. Sports Shack at #15 - This team is looking strong with a bunch of new players with high level experience. Teams too High!!! SDVBC #6 Cal Juniors #11 Sunshine #4 Toughest Pools: By toughest I mean most competitive... Pool 13: SMBC, Long Beach 16-2, Mavericks 16-Gene, Elite 16-Elite will be a tough and competitive pool top to bottom. Pool 14: Watch out for that Viper team and 951 2 teams are always solid. Predictions 1st Place teams: Long Beach Miz, 951, Club West, Sunshine, Laguna, Santa Barbara, Wave, Impact, TCA, Coast, Rancho Valley, OCVBC, SMBC, Temecula, Shack, Golden West 2nds: Kern River, CW Pasadena, Laguna Carmen, South Bay, SCVC, SG ELITE, Jamba, SDVBC, Surf City, Wave Jeff, Club West 2, REEF, Long Beach RB, Epic, Sunshine SB, SVVC Good luck to all teams this weekend and all season. Have fun with the prognostications

Strangest seed I see is Sinjin Smith's new club (HAX) being put in the bronze as the #142 overall seed.
Looking at their roster, it looks like a Low Division 1/High Division 2-type team. Given the way the qualifier flow chart works, even if this team wins every match in the qualifiers, the best they can start the season is in Division 5. Sounds like poor communication between the club and SCVA to get this team placed correctly. |

The Mavericks 15's that finished #2 in SCVA in 2008 is now at Club West. Ariana Williams is listed on the 18-1 and Rachel Herrock is with Aaron on the
17-1. The remaining bulk is on the 16-1, the reason for that #3 seed to start the season. At MLK, I did not get to see them at Fiesta, but I hear they are very
good.
Jane Croson is not on Cal Juniors 16s, it is just a big mis seed. That Kern River team will be interesting to watch. They have decent size and year under their belt of playing in 16s. How will their ball control hold up? Is your daughter now at Legacy with Walt?

Club West!!! | ||
|
do they still have many of their girls from last year's 15s?
The two outsides from last year were outstanding along with setter and many others. If this is a combination of the best from that Club West 15s team and Aarons' Mavericks 15s...then watch out!!! This team is gonna be super super athletic and tough. Whatsup...you are the man when it comes to the inside information. Thanks! |

Re seeding for Q3? | ||
|
Question: Will all 3 results be used: MATCHES, GAMES, and POINT % for re seeding? I think one year point percentage was not used to elevate teams?
Example: two teams finish 2nd, both 2/1 matches, games will decide tie-breaker? if games won/lost are the same, will point % be used? In this case, all 2nds with 5/2 or 4/2 game records move ahead of all 4/3 game records for Q3 seeding. Also all teams with a 4/2 games won/lost record will be decided on point percentages for seed order. Is this correct? Are the seeding rules defined somewhere? THANKS if anyone can help with answer. |

Went three. 2nd game was 25-23 Surf City. Tiebreaker was close at 9 all I think, then TCA pulled away. Surf City will be in Div 1 this year, maybe the 1st
mandatory, but for sure by the 2nd Mandatory.

Barney wrote: Looked at the results and it validates the issue I raised above. Hax went 6-0 with a 2.78 point ratio and beat the #2 seed in their pool 25-2 in the second game. Does anybody know whether SCVA can make adjustments in the Qualifier tournament to reseed a team in the middle of the process to address a problem like this? Otherwise, the best this team can do even if (when) they win all their games in the qualifiers is start in division 5. It'll take them most of the Mandatories to get where they belong. I'm not affiliated with this club, but know some of the girls on the team and feel for them. SCVA typically does a great job at the seeding so I'm not intending to rag on them here. |

16G only unknown pool finishes: pools 3,4,11, and 14???? All others mentioned or finished 1-2 as seeded. Anyone know W/L and % points on these 4?
Anyone sure that point % will be used as tie-breaker for Q3 seeding? |
