vballdad43 wrote:Ok I can say this because I coached your team last year. Not saying we would have lost against KIVA but, beating KIVA on any stage is hard and to beat them on a National Championship stage would be near impossible. That is what teams like that are trained for. We lost to them 3 times last year, they have ice running in there veins. Beating a team also 3 times in a row is the hardest thing to do in volleyball. Once you do that though, they pretty much know they own you. It would have been a great match and I hope it would have ended in our favor. This is New Year though and we will see what happens. See you on the 18th Gary. |

Great Teams | ||

All I can say is WOW. This was a fun tournament in Austin. The girls were challenged and it was good to
see some of the new teams. Looks like it is going to be a good tour when you have 8 tied for first and of the 8 only number one and two lost a game (not a
match). Can't wait for the next stop.

I will start a TCS 14 thread to keep those specifics out of this national 14 open discussion.

Loyal Opposition |

No, no, no. The PrepVolleyball Law of Entropy specifically states that ALL threads will eventually end up being about Texas.
Anyway, the KIVA team was the best 13's team I saw and coached against last year. We gave them a game (not a match, a game). As I remember, they had two incredibly good left-sides and two incredibly good middles. Among all of their other good players. I'll look forward to watching them play this year. It's too bad they aren't going to play the USAV national tournaments. A lot of people will miss out on seeing them because of it. |

Open...to be honest...after watching KIVA's 13's last year, NO ONE will be able to beat that team. Honesty is
brutal, and I coach 14's, its just the truth! Ron has a great group of kids this year like every other year
LOL. Wish him and his kids the best of luck!
With
the division of USA and JVDA...I'm not sure there will ever be a "true national champion", but it is what it is.
There is alot of talent out there, and yes, there is talent here in Texas, but it's what happens in June/July when everything truly matters.

I'd love to see KIVA 14-1 play. Does anyone know their schedule?

For most of the country, 14 Open would be a discussion of USA volleyball teams competing in open divisions within that system. To keep talking about KIVA and how they are so good and could win so much in USA volleyball or can go undefeated in JVDA is less relevant than talking about Texas teams likely to be in open divisions of qualifiers. I am sure they are good but they won't factor into the jump at age 14 where Open becomes an available tournament option. So the answer to the question of where to see KIVA play is to go to their website (google KIVA volleyball). |

You can see KIVA 14s, the JDVA champs, play CYC 14s Green, the JOVC Champs, play the first weekend in Feb at the Central Zonal tournament in KY. |

I don't get the point of your video clip. Poking fun at a 14yr old that couldn't get out of the way of a ball...really? Try showing clips of a great
kill or incredible save...something that shows how good your daughter's team is, not how unsportsmanlike you are.

43 has a nice swing for a 14 year old
|
But that swing won't score many points as a 16 year old, when the opponents will have middles that block and defenders who can handle a jump serve.

thanks for the comment groupguy

you may be right. but a nice swing is good to have. thats what is great about vball. there are other spots for the girls to work on. if your not
6'4" you can still compete. have a nice day.

Gary how come you took down all of your post. I was using them as motivation for this weekend. Especially the one about my team needing to wear helmets this
weekend. We nearly beat CYC 15 blue this past weekend. We lost to them in 3 games. They have been together for about 3 years and we just got together and we
gave them a good game. I don't think you are going to blow us away like you think you are. We will give you all a good game. See you on Sunday vballdad43.
