In the same pool, KJ defeated Sports City in two.
Sports Shack and Gold Cal won matches in Pool 1. Gold Cal's win was in three over Club Utah. Brooke McAlister was tremendous for Utah in the Game 1 win, but Gold Cal rallied to take the next two, prevailing on a kill from Molly Pon, a long point that featured point-saving digs from Kyndall Kordakis, Cora Harms and Lianne Vicchio.
Skyline used back to back Madie Jones kill to blow open a close Game 2 and sweep Southwest Illinois. Colorado Juniors won an exciting three-game match with City Beach. Setter Molly Bagshaw was befuddling with her dumps for CB, which led comfortably in G2 until CJ rallied behind nice play in the middle from Emily Nielsen. Game 3 was 11-9 Colorado until kills from Katie Schimpf and Anne Smartt gave CJ five match points. Two Allison Whitson kills got City Beach back into it, but Colorado won when Vanessa Gemignani delivered a sweet back set to Smartt, who executed the Smartt tip to the sideline.
In Pool 4. Vision got by San Gabriel in three games. Rachel Taylor and Katrina Post keyed San Gabriel's comeback win in Game 2. But a Megan McConnell kill put Viz up for good in Game 3, which ended on a kill then block from Kristina Graven.
WVBA is up on Alamo in Game 2 in the other Pool 4 match. Kerry Clavadetscher is having a great match. Her dumps are a speedy thing of beauty!
