I'll jump in the mix, I too am looking forward to this year.  I think this is finally going to be Mount Si's season to take it all.  Enough with the sixth place finishes already, GO WILDCATS!!!!! 

A bit of pre-pre-preview for WA state high school volleyball, UW's HS team camp finished up today.  Not sure how many WA high school teams were there but here's my take, please feel free to add if you have anything.

Mount Si - They are going to be strong at the OH, Jr Lindsay Carr (6'2) at OH1 has power but needs some mechanical corrections to keep the error rate below 15%.  Soph Anna McCreadie (6'3) is moving from middle to OH2, she too needs some corrections but has plenty of power and a high angle of attack.  If these two girls work hard they should be able to be as powerful of a combo as any team in the region (yes, even that of Ballermine)

The camp answered Mount Si's questions at Setter and Libero, both positions should be above average.  The weak spot is at middle and unless someone from last years JV steps up, could be a bit of an issue.  Carr and McCreadie, however, are both capable of spanning the gap with their physicality.  When Mount Si faces a team with equal hitters it will be a race to 25.  If Carr and McCreadie get their mechanics corrected it should be one they win with ease.

On the last day of camp there was a tournament, all games lasted 30 minutes, Mount Si's first was against Seattle Prep.  Boy do they miss Olivia.......

Seattle prep seems to lack power on their offense and appeared to be slightly above average on defense.  Their go to player was OH Maddie Burnett, she seemed to be an all around solid  6 rotation player but lacked the power to put the ball on the floor.  Mount Si dominated the set 37 to 23.

Mount Si next took on Monroe, not much to report here.  Monroe had one player at the OH, once she came off the front row they got stuck to the tune of 43 to 21 (ouch).

Lastly was Ballermine, what a team!!!!  They had players at all positions but did seem a bit weak at middle and their back row play was not as impressive as their front row.  That said it was still more than Mount Si could deal with, Ballermine 37 Mount Si 28.

I know Olympia was there but I did not see them play.

Bellevue seemed to be a much improved team from what I saw.  That's all I have about the teams......anyone?

On another note, Jim Mac was amazing as always and the coaching was as high end as it comes.  I think the girls were lucky for the access to such great coaching and role models from the UW players.

And finally, let me say (of course I am writing this but I actually yelled the words, much to my families anger) GO WILDCATS!!!!!!!!                     

She was, she leaves in a week (I think) to play for the national team.

Mount Si had 62 at tryouts, tough three days for the coaches but the team is set and starting practice today.  Seems like the creation of Ridge Valley VBC is starting to pay off.  From what I understand the team is very young but have some quality talent.  Strong at libero, setter and very strong at both OH spots.
