pools are up and looky here....the teams that played in the Far Westerns tourney did not get moved down to division 2. even though the past mandatories when
teams couldn't go they got penalized and moved down a divison. but i guess all of our complaining got to scva a little. not like the a and b divisions will
do anything now. im not trying to be rude but it is unfair to some teams...

Please disregard the above message. After checking the pools from the last mandatory it appears those that attended the Reno qualifier did get moved down.

BUT, they have stuck with the A and B pools. This still goes against the idea that teams should make progress as they go deeper into the season and limits the
teams that do progress to play the teams lumped into "the better half (top)" or "the worse half (bottom)" of a Division. Worst of all this
new system only allows 2, yes- only 2!!! teams to move up to A of same Division or B of the next Division. I simply don't understand why.
I thought they would rethink this and we would see the pools back to normal. |

Believe it doesn't matter after M4 | ||

Someone on this site pointed out when this came up before M3 that regional pools are set up according to the teams current standing (point total) after
completion of all the mandatories. So it shouldn't be an issue that we can't move up a division.

Someone please explain this "A"/"B" Division situation. If you are in Division 1B and you win your pool, and you win your first match after
pool play.... your team does not move up to 1A? Who would the winners of the two pools in 1B play? Each other? What's the point of playing if you can't
advance? I know this is the last mandatory before regionals but wouldn't this hold back Division 1B teams from moving up, since they won"t get as many
points for winning as the 1A teams? And wouldn't this prevent the 1B teams from getting a higher seed for the regionals?
Also, will the winners of the 2A division move up to Division 1A or 1B? Three of the teams that went to Reno are all in Div 2A so they have the opportunity to advance, yet the teams who stayed and played in the 3rd Mandatory are penalized. I don't get this!!! |

Socalobserver - where were you when this all came to light prior to the last mandatory. We said it wasn't fair back then but no one could see or believe
that SCVA who change the rules mid season. I sure would like to know how the teams that won their playoff matches in Div 3B and Div 4B and don't get to
move up to D2 or D3. How do you explain Club Jamba losing their playoff match and still staying in Div 1? How do you explain Reef losing their playoff match
and moving up to D2?

vbalmom. . . . the A/B pools in the last mandatory included only Div 3 & 4. This time it includes Div 1 & 2 and I'm asking how it will affect Div
1. I would like to know how play works after pool play is finished, since it did not involve us last mandatory. Thanks

I stand corrected and don't know enough to answer your question. Interesting that there are two pools one in D2 and one in D3 where the same club has 2
teams playing. That generally doesn't happen until playoffs.
