Here's what I have. Long Beach and 951 have identicle matches/sets/point ratio. I gave Long Beach the nod because they were the higher seeded team to begin with:

Pool 1:
Laguna
Coast
Santa Barbara
Epic

Pool 2:
Long Beach
TCA
OCVBC
Goldenwest

Pool 3:
951 Elite
Impact
Surf City
Kern River

Pool 4:
Club West
Wave
SVVC
Rancho Valley

Pools 1 and 2 look to be the toughest.......

Thoughts?

I think you had one error, that changed all the pools, You have impact 6 overall, but they dropped a game. I think it should look like this:

Pool 1

Laguna

S B

Impact

Epic

Pool 2

Miz LB

Coast

OCVBC

GW

Pool 3

951

TCA

Surf City

Kern river

Pool 4

Club West

Wave

SVVC

Rancho

Anyone have anything different???

5 D2 and 1 D3 team will make their way up and battle all season with D1. Sunshine, Sportshack, SCVC, Club West, Temecula, and SDVBC in D3. The lower 8 seeded teams in D1 will have some battles with these teams, and probably others not mentioned. Some teams played short handed last week and will play different next week. It will be fun to watch.

Sports Shack is a legit D1 team that could be in upper level of D1 very, very soon. In Q3, they just played in a very tough pool with another legit D1 team that got the better of them on that day...although, I would take Shack over KR most of the time for sure. Outside hitter Camille Coffey and Opposite Christina Higgins are absolutely star players and their setter puts up some great sets. Like I said earlier, I would bet that even the 4th seed in Shack's pool for Q3, Baja VBC, will shake things up somewhere down the line this year. That is a feisty group with good ball control.

Sunshine VB Rags has lost their main setter for the season with a torn ACL...that obviously must of had a negative effect on them during Q3. They are a formidable group but without Dani Salka I am not sure they are quite the same. Besides her setting, she can also be a big force at the net with her blocking and hitting. It was a very big loss for them. I am guessing they will stay in D1 but probably not contend for the top spots like they might have with Salka in the lineup.

the bottom of D1 will always battle with the top of D2!!!! Agreed that Kern River deserves to be D1 and the Shack will be in D1 in mandatory 2.

Grapes, any SPECIFICS you want to add? I was complimenting a few teams I saw. The teams mentioned wont only battle the bottom half of D1. You can add T-street.

I came up with the same pools as abiggbirdy. However, the posted pools don't make sense.

I agree with you MB14DAD...NO SENSE!! I had D1 and D2 pools mapped out as well, and the D2 pools posted don't match up with the matches/games points either??????

Does anyone have a clue how SCVA came up with these pools. These pools are not done in the typical manner by match%/game%/point% like they usually do. Did SCVA use a combination of scores from several qualifiers or did they just make up their own pools to mess with all of us that try to figure out the pools ahead of posting?

my only guess is they must have used a "combination/average" of matches%, games%, points % from the Qualifier Tournaments. Also, in D3...the Mandatory 1 Pools just follows the exact order of the 3rd place finishers from Q3 pools...what??? Maybe this is an indicator that they used some kind of Qualifier Tournament averaging method...a tad confusing.

All teams in D2 are within 3 seed positions of old format, most 1 or 2 positions. Hard to complain to much, but is this a mistake? and or will it be changed?

Anyone contact the SCVA to find out what is going on with these pools and why they have not used the seeding formula they have used for as long as I can remember?

How did they put 951 which just won the Fiesta Classic in Arizona and tied with the 2nd highest win/point percentage in the 3rd qualifier with Long Beach Mizuno together in the same pool? They have #2 overall in the same pool with #3 overall. They both were 6-0 with a 1.724 point percentage in Q #3.

How is that possible by any method the SCVA might be using to determine seedings for Mandatory #1???
In Q1, they finished 2nd in their pool with 2-1/5-4/170 to 156. Then in Q3 they got by an injury plaqued Sunshine VB Rags squad but still lost a game on that day and didn't end up with an incredible pts % (150-122). It makes no sense at all.

No other team in D1 has lost more than 4 games total other than SVVC Kelli who has lost 5...yet somehow they managed to get the #9 seed...what???

Looks like they figured it out. Still think that SVVC and Surf City should be reversed though. At least we know to use the usual method for figuring. Good luck everyone!

I still think SCVA has an error in the seeding. SVVC and Surf City should be switched. Oh well, no big deal. Should be lots of fun. Have'nt seen many of Div 1 teams yet since we were at Orange Coast (only Gold Pool) and Cypress (3 Gold pools) for qualifiers. Waiting for Prognost.......

Who took what? Who looked strong/weak? Heard there were a few pretty bad injuries, hope those girls are Okay. also heard 951 looked good, laguna, coast, TCA and shocked to hear of the losses by Mizuno LB, Club West and a few others, but heard it was some good competative VB.

Let's hear some feedback parents, coaches!
