tell us about the goings on with TCA and RRHS, but you or dramamama better have the courage to be specific.Last year the players trying out for RRHS was told by a TCA coach that they would be helping decide who made the RRHS team. Specific enough?

Last year the players trying out for RRHS was told by a TCA coach that they would be helping decide who made the RRHS team. Specific enough?Oh for goodness sakes. Was it really worth registering a new user name for that? That was discussed last summer and is an insult to Coach Watson at Round Rock. You know I also hear that the Eclipse are feeling their oats and telling Zora who to play at Westwood and we all know that the Jrs have been setting Bennett's lineup at Westlake all these years! Some free advice to the disgruntled parents - - do what you think is best for yours but understand that this immature behavior won't be tolerated any more at the other clubs. |

The "Drama" in this thread has gotten pretty far off target. Lets try to get back to Club Tryouts for a day or so...

Absolutely. IMO, Austin Jrs have reasserted themselves after taking some hits the past 2 years. AP has become stronger and the Eclipse have become the alternative to the Austin Jrs in the northwest part of town. TCA is hurting and must reasses their role in the Austin volleyball community. If I were N. Mason, I'd hire a business manager to run the club and let the coaches coach and rebuild from the 12s to 16s level. |

No one tells Kate Zora who to play. Even if they tried she wouldnt listen..lol And as Woody stated she is coaching with Austin Juniors not Eclipse.

Nice- distort and recreate my post to fit your comments. (the "top" players from the TCA JO's team. I guess the other kids on the team were just
after thoughts and along for the ride?) I wrote two of the top players not THE 2 top players. Your free advice is unnecessary- anyone involved in Austin
volleyball is well aware of the expectations of the top clubs- such as Juniors and APV.

WOW, Woody, VBeye, I came to see what was happening in the Texas volleyball mecca of Austin.
I think I'll slip back to the Houston Try Out thread. It looks like a petunia patch compared to this viper pit. |

Chiva, to answer your question, I heard TCA CA listened to the feedback from the parents from last year and replaced the last TCA Austin director. According to
last year's parents, he was busy building his team/empire and forgot to put the players' interests above his own. As a result, the players'
training suffered. Hopefully, with new leadership, the players' development will become TCA's top priority.

Austinvbfan, how can your statement be specfic? It's purely hearsay... and hilarious. I can't help myself when I see such passion and energy trying to
spread the "truth."

Feedback provided to TCA-CA had no complaints about the previous director. Previous director resigned when TCA-CA decided he could no longer coach the players
he had promised to coach for 3 years and the Director of TCA-CA had agreed with this objective.
Complaints submitted from parents consisted of the coaching tactics of a remaining coach of TCA Austin, increased costs from tournament fees and travel costs through an out of state travel agent. How many players have left TCA for other clubs since last year? Over 30 players! Coincidence? Talk to the players, ask them why they wanted to change clubs.

That's a good name. Dramaaaaa Mamaaaaaa. You seem to be exerting a lot of energy trying to attack the "him" at TCA Austin? Not sure who the
"him" is, since my affiliation is with AJV. In any case, as a new parent getting into the Austin VB arena, I'm surprised and alerted by such poor
behaviors from some of the posts I've been reading. Woody is correct that we should get on topic and talk about tryouts in Austin area.
I really wish you will refrain from creating DRAMA and taking away of what is suppose to be a good forum for a wonderful sport. |

O.K. I think the issue and bashing of TCA in Austin needs to end. Most of the girls have gone elsewhere these last two weeks and everyone is happy with these
wonderful trained volleyball girls. If TCA chooses to stay in Austin let them develop from the younger girls up, but it seems like it won't take long to
see the difference in clubs. Let TCA go to Houston and start over!

Austinvbfan, your statement regarding "Last year the players trying out for RRHS was told by a TCA coach that they would be helping decide who made the
RRHS team. Specific enough? " was what I was referring to.
Look, we can say many things hiding behind our identity. When I see a statement such as yours being made, I would have to think seriously that you're lying. Why would a coach like Coach Watson, who's been at RRHS for 10 years and a solid reputation/record, put her neck out for a unproven volleyball club. If you think for 1 minute, these club coaches don't make much money. Why would someone jeopardize her career and make such a dumb decision? Any sensible person could see right through the flaw of your statement. |

Maybe we should change the subject here to TCA bashing and start a new thread for Austin Club Tryouts!
Or better yet, the people who keeping up the TCA bashing need to create their own thread!!! Move on people. |

Man, the behavior of these former 15 TCA parents has gone beyond the pale. Like some typical parents of younger players (12's through
15's), they know just enough to misrepresent the facts and then react emotionally and infect their kids in an us against them situation.
Feedback provided to TCA-CA had no complaints about the previous director. Previous director resigned when TCA-CA decided he could no longer coach the players he had promised to coach for 3 years and the Director of TCA-CA had agreed with this objective. Complaints submitted from parents consisted of the coaching tactics of a remaining coach of TCA Austin, increased costs from tournament fees and travel costs through an out of state travel agent. How many players have left TCA for other clubs since last year? Over 30 players! Coincidence? Talk to the players, ask them why they wanted to change clubs.1st of all - in the Round Rock school district, the high schools will hold various camps for kids in the school district. This includes volleyball. The volleyball camp will usually be held a week or 2 before tryouts. The school's volleyball coach is not allowed to coach her kids in the camp, so she usually contracts the camp to someone with volleyball experience - usually a person with volleyball club affiliation. It is accurate that a TCA coach ran the camp held at Round Rock in 2007. But he also ran a similar camp at another RR school a year or two before. And there is absolutely nothing unethical about this. For example, I'm pretty sure last year the volleyball camp at Westwood was run by the coach / asst. director from the Eclipse. And Westwood's head coach Zora coached 17s at the Eclipse the same season. About the resignation of the director - - As I mentioned last night I was told (by a parent and former TCA associate) this decision was made directly by Mr. Mason in California. And yes, the director was supposed to coach the 18s players this year as part of a 3 year plan to coach the same players (as 16s, 17s & 18s). However there was concern that the coach had not been coaching these players the TCA way. And if you visit the TCA website - - there is a TCA way that all the franchises are expected to teach to their players. This had been going on some time and a decision was made by Mason to replace him as the 18s coach. It was a business decision and not personal. The coach chose to resign which is his right. I have also been told that the costs at TCA are high, but people better realize club volleyball is expensive and getting more expensive with increase fuel costs. I went on the Austin Jrs website and their cost for their 16, 17 and 18 mizuno teams is $4,000 and includes hotel costs among the normal stuff. Since most top clubs charge about $3,000, all the Jr.s have done is add the hotel costs. They specifically state that air fare, food and ground transportation is not included. So these disgruntled parents are in for a shock when they realize there will be no difference in costs from TCA. They may even be higher. Finally, an observation - - since the 15's coach was promoted to Club Co-director by Mr. Mason, the organization must be satisfied with his performance - afterall this team was the first TCA Texas team to qualify for JOs. I know, I know, it was the players & parents who overcame the bad coaching tactics. And if these parents think there kids have a shot at playing vb in college, they better realize that good club coaches are preparing their darlings for college vb, not a debutante dance. |

One small point of clarification... | ||
|
I have highlighted in bold the one point that needs correction below.
Actually, when compared to a $3K program, this also includes Vegas (17s/18s) or Omaha (16s) as well as the Southwest National Volleyball Championships (SwNVC, formerly 3rd Coast), Speed/Agility/Quickness training, and practices 3 nights a week all the way up to SwNVC. I bring this up because there were parents at tryouts this weekend remarking that, when they did the analysis, they saw this as actually cheaper. |
