Sometimes it's incomplete info, sometimes it's an evaluation of the talent a team has faced in a season, sometimes parental blinders get in the way a
bit, sometimes I have a brain fart.
In this case, it might be all four. First, Alamo beat South Shore head up in the Day 3 pools. So, Alamo goes ahead. Second, South Shore then beat Houston Juniors in a Challenge Match. I forgot about that. Without more, South Shore should have gone ahead of HJ, even though HJ beat Amarillo which beat Alamo whicg beat South Shore. Third, I do not have complete records for South Shore (Only through April 16). So I don't know how many times SS has played Alamo or HJ. (2-0 versus HJ, 1-1 versus Alamo based on what I see). Finally, HJ played Open competition all year and came close to qualifying. I value teams that play the best of the best at every opportunity. Does that help? Based on what I know now, I would flip South Shore and HJ. |

What about KIVA white? They won at AAUs and finished 5th at JVDA in club divisions.

In my view and that of the Club Rankings Team, they didn't do enough to merit a National ranking this year, though they are a very fine, very fun group of
players.

No... wrong info... South Shore Beat Alamo in day 3 head up. South Shore has beaten Alamo both times they played. Also, South Shore beat Austin Juniors in San
Antoio, and has scrimmages AVA 3 times and beat them all three. Please don't think I am wanting to take anything from these teams, they are great
teams...but South Shore worked hard all year and had a great season and deserved some recognition. That's all I wanted to say. Thanks for all the time you
put into this site.

South Shore beat Alamo on 2 separate times (at JO's and in the Lone Star Finals). Both
times with stellar play by setter Amber Brooks, Middles Katie Norris and Holly Moreno, Libero Kelly Moyer and of course 5"6 outside hitter and future
Cornhusker Megan Pendergast. Not only did they beat HJV both times they faced them but in the match
against HJV at JO's Megan Pendergast broke her thumb it popped out of place, she popped it back in herself right there on the court and kept playing. Hands
shaking at the net, eyes wide and breathing hard she finished the match still putting the ball away and digging everything that came her way. Holding her thumb
between rallies and tapping it more and more during every time out. After SS won the match she bent over and started hysterically crying from the pain and was
rushed to the trainer's tent then to the emergency room where she found out that it was broken. But the next day if you walked over the court where the
first round of the gold bracket was being played you were bound to notice Megan still on the court with her thumb wrapped up in a soft cast much like Kelsey
Black in Ducanville. SS lost to A5 in three. A5 won the National Division.

SS 18 was always fun to watch. Not that tall, but very persistent and focused. VballJake wrote:

Yeah, I'm not afraid to admit I messed up.
I assumed incorrectly that Houston beat Amarillo on Day 3, so that when Amarillo was playing Alamo, that meant Alamo had beaten South Shore. Turns out I was wrong on both fronts and apologize. I will adjust the rankings. |
