I think they're called ASG's, which was what I was referring to before. The one that converts university or federal loans to grant. I just looked at
their athletic website and no announcements for it, so it may not be a true merit scholarship of sort.

Ironically, the Patriot League no longer says schools cannot offer athletic scholarships. They may have removed that clause to allow American in. Right now,
its up to each individual member whether or not to offer full athletic scholarships.
Not sure about the equivalent scholarships...its been years and they may have made introduced this since I've been involved. I do believe they say this to show they care about vb, but in reality its the athletic grant that already exist and in use for years. Again, its been years so something may have changed. |

In 2006, Lafayette started giving out athletic scholarships in some sports.
Men's and Women's Basketball each received 3 full scholarships. Other sports ("strategically selected men's and women's sports") were not so clear in what they would receive. i know that Men's Soccer and Women's Field Hockey do have scholarships. |

Yeah...have to chuckle a bit. Lafayette was the last of the hold-outs for offering any athletic scholarships. When their Men's BB went from league
champions to bottom dwellers within a few short years, guess their administrators and board of trustees thought different.
Thanks for the reminder dibertwasright. WFH and MSO. Kind of surprised when I read WFH got the scholarship instead of WSO. |

Pre-season poll is out....but not any surprises so far:
http://patriotleague.cstv...y/spec-rel/082608aaa.html 1. American 97 (13) 2. Army 87 (3) 3. Colgate 72 4. Navy 55 5. Bucknell 46 6. Lafayette 41 7. Lehigh 35 8. Holy Cross 15 Number in parenthesis indicate total #1 votes received. Still hoping for Army to knock American off their perch (no offense to Barry and AU of course!). |

This the year for Army to win the Patriot League. The ARMY's front row beat American twice over the last three years. It looks like a strong incoming
freshman class as well for ARMY especially the middle and two outside hitters. I think a couple of the Sophmores will be stepping up as well. Can't forget
Army's awesome setter. It will be exciting when American and Army are on the court. Colgate will be right up there. I am looking forward to the season.

It'll be interesting to see if Army (12-2), American (13-1), and Colgate (11-3) dominate the league like they did last year. Never seen 3 teams bunched at
the top like this since AU joined the league.
