I'll try to keep you updated on how Tim's team does as I know many of you like to follow his progress as I follow that of your children.
Thanks for allowing me this time after I missed four of his six tournaments. Have a great weekend as I hope to!

15-5 and 12-2 today. We've 10-runned eight consecutive opponents.
Tim was average today, 3 for 6 with a triple off the center field fence and two RBIs. On the mound, he threw two hitless, scoreless innings, fanning four. In the photo below, he swings at the first pitch in the first inning of Game 1 and pops out to third. When he saw this photo, he cringed, because he knew he'd dropped his bat head, causing the pop up.

14-2 and 15-0 yesterday. We stand two wins away from the state championship and a trip to Idaho for regionals.
Tim's hitting woes continued, as he was 3-for-5 at the plate with a single and two ground-rule doubles. Yes, I know that's not a struggle for many, but one of his outs was a strike out swinging, his first such event in almost 80 All-Star at-bats and one of his doubles came when he couldn't execute a bunt on two occasions, against a team we were bunting to make outs against, then swung away when he misinterpreted the coach's sign. On the mound, he threw 2 1/3 innings with a hit and walk, five Ks and no runs. He threw his knuckleball for the first time in competition and it looked good (he also has a change up and two fastballs -- I won't allow curves until he's at least 13). |

We win!!!
15-3 in the semifinal, 18-6 in the final. Tim was named defensive MVP. He only threw 2/3 of an inning today (tops out at 56 mph, not bad for a nine-year-old) but fanned two to "save" the semifinal. He was 6 for 8 at the plate today with two doubles and a triple and several runs batted in. All in all a great, WARM weekend, and a great time to be a dad. About the bunting to make outs thing, Bookworm, we had to do it in the quarters and the finals. In the quarters, the team we played would have lost 60-0 had we not called off the dogs midway through the first inning, when it was 10-0 and only one was out. In the final, we were up 18-0 and had been bunting to make outs long into the fifth inning. The other team really appreciated it. They scored six in the bottom of the last after some of our regulars were removed from the game. Their coach said if they managed eight runs, they'd shut it down out of respect for our calling off the dogs. No need. We only made seven errors that inning, but not eight. At regionals, it's going to be A LOT harder. We are 29-8 on the year and many of our losses have come from teams we will have to beat to have any success in Idaho.

Thanks for posting the story and pics. Good luck in Idaho. Grew up in Boise and will be pass through same time on our last summer vacation before Bridget

Priceless indeed. I used to pitch... takes me back. That kid at 10 years old has it going on, that's for sure. You can tell a lot from a picture. He's
10? That's a great picture of him pitching. Egads. Wow.
Enjoy it to the fullest, and don't ever apologize to anyone for going to watch him play. |
