Registered Member Posts: 24 (07/06/08 8:06 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None European Global Challenge 2008 July 20-24 in Pula, Croatia Regional HP Teams from the SCVA and NCVA will compete with the BIP/USA Development Team, Front Range, and 1st Place Volleyball Team (Florida) against the following European teams in this year's tournament: Italy Youth National Team Denmark Junior National Team Austria Youth National Team Slovenia Youth National Team Uralocka Juniors (Russia) Nova KBM Juniors (Slovenia) OK Pula (Croatia) Falconara Juniors (Italy) Club GALEB (Montenegro) CSU Targu Mures (Romania) All pre-tournament info is posted on the site, and we'll get 02 forms (rosters) posted as soon as we can. Daily updates including journals, photos, and video will be posted starting July 15 as teams start arriving to Europe for pre-tournament action in Germany, Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. I have tried for 3 days to get in using my favorites links and the links posted on VT and on Prep vb... nothing works and from 3 different computers.

We'll hopefully have something up from them by the end of the day. We're also trying to get team photos taken and posted with the rosters, and should have them all up by tomorrow as everyone is either in or on their way to Pula for the Opening Ceremonies which kick off at 5:00pm European time tomorrow, Sunday, July 20. If anyone has any special requests for information, or sees anything missing or not working properly on the site, please let us know as we have someone dedicated to keeping this live until the finals on July 24. This match will be played at 7:00pm. The Istrija Division final will be an All-American final between Front Range Juniors and the SCVA Red Team, played at 4:00pm. All scores and journals are updated.

If so, how can I buy a copy? If not, you may want to consider that in future years. 2.) What were the 1 through 8 seedings for Brijuni bracket play? It appeared from the layout of the quarterfinal results that the match between BIP and Slovenia was match 38 (B4 vs B5) and the winner would play the winner of match 33 (B1 Italy and B8 Falconara). But in the semifinals, BIP played the Croatians instead of Italy. Was there a switcheroo? What happened? For future years, posting the seedings would help us follow from afar. 3.) I noticed that Radovan Gacic from BIP interviewed Nickolai Karpol. Do you think there would be any chance that Uralochka Ekaterinburg would come to the JVDA tournament next year in June? That tournament gives Karpol what he is looking for and would be a great tune-up for the 2009 European Challenge. Apparently from a NCVA blog, OK Pula played in Sacramento this June in the "Cal Finals". I know I could find a group of KiVA parents who would save them accommodation expenses by hosting them in our homes. Float a trial balloon and see if he would be interested. 4.) The only match that was video-taped of BIP was their loss to Italy this morning. Email me about it and I'll figure out how to get you a copy when I'm back in the USA. I'll also try to load it online somehow, but I'm not sure the Italians will allow that. Let me check… 2. Briujni seedings were as follows: 1. Italy 2. Pula 3. Slovenia 4. Nova KBM 5. CSU Targu Mures (higher point ratio than BIP) 6. BIP 7. SCVA Blue 8. Falconara No switcheroo that I know of. I hope we didn't make a mistake... 3. I'm not sure that the JVDA Tournament is exactly what Karpol is looking for, but if you're serious, email me. For the record, when we have a team that can afford tickets to the USA, we generally try to take them somewhere to play against universities, clubs, or regions that have been on tour with us, or to official USAV Events like the HP Champships. I note also most foreign delegations want to stay in hotels vs. homes. And every European team that we've brought to the USA so far has had all accommodation and food paid by host teams and/or regions. We're very fortunate to have some great friends in the USA that have been able to pull this off for these teams and we're very thankful on behalf of the girls that have gotten so much out of these trips... Since you mentioned Pula and their trip to California, I'll take this opportunity to give a shout out to Tom and Donna of the NCVA. They did a wonderful job inviting and hosting both OTP Pula and also KP Brno (Czech Republic) at their California Classic this year. 4. Karpol wasn't the floor coach for this team, but as we all know, he is Uralocka. And FYI, Italy just beat BIP 2-1 for 3rd in the Briujni and Denmark beat Uralocka 2-0. Scores being posted soon... And SCVA Red just won the Istrija Division 3-1 vs. Front Range… -Tim
