Nice 04! Everybody gets it.. The Nations best play at Jo's (or used to), but the festival is still great. For the record...in 18's Rancho finished 2nd
in SCVA. OCVB 10th, SMBC 11th and the Shack 11th. 951 (playing open) finished 15. Cal Jr's (playing open) finished 17. Long Beach (playing open) finished
19. Goldenwest finished 18th,TVVC finished 26 and Club West finished 20 (these teams are playing National and American).
Good luck to all the JO teams. And festival teams have at it. Winning festival is such fun...and it's on ESPN! |

I think it should go back to Davis..... Reno is not the best place, especially in late June-July!! Good luck to your teams @ VF

Agreed-the 5 year commitment to Reno was a bad move. I'm hearing Arizona, Palm Springs or San Diego will be the venue in the future..

Been to the Festival once to recruit and I loved it...had a family atmosphere about it. Only down side was that there weren't many good food places to eat
at. Had to walk to the riverside where the old town was (forget what it was called...perhaps Olde Towne?) to get some decent food. Other than that, had to jump
in my car to look for somewhere to eat.
San Diego would be a nice place to host the Festival in the future. More things to do while they're not playing. |

We have heard palm springs ca is on the table, but yes, San Diego would be the best though. The teams going to Reno at the top are all very good, the RV 18-1 team would have finished top 10 at JO's if they had gone. Due to the club director seeing Reno as a Club event, she doesnt allow for teams to go to the JO's. My daughters team would have qualified for National or American since they had beaten a few teams durring the scva season that are going. All the games in Reno will be fun, and at the end of the tournament, they will be good also. RV 15-1 is going in #3 just behind Kern River 15 who played in the 16's all season, and Epic 15-1. Unknown to me is this Canada Prospects, seems to be an all-star team from Canada. Im sure California will be well repped in Dallas and in Reno, and good luck to all...and good health. |

Mark my words "The Festival won't exist in three years"
In the 18's division the Festival has lost over 60 teams in just the past four years. This is in the face of girls volleyball continuing to explode across the country. The festival had a chance to "lock up" the spot of being the premier "post season" volleyball tournament but that boat has sailed. It is now a third tier tourney with mostly fourth tier teams compared to JO's and the JDVA. It will never recover. Nice people, but "greedy" management has sealed their fate. This is the most expensive tournament by a factor of two according to our coaches. |

I'm hearing Phoenix for the Festival next year.

Last time I spoke with somebody "in the know" about this, he insisted Palm Springs would be the new site. The large clubs, OCVBC, SVVC, Empire and so
on will have a say. Phoenix would be fine. I was hoping for Salt Lake City. Doesn't Orange County make the most sense?

^No pepsi in mormon country! ;oP
It was a joke on VT where the BYU wvb team was photographed with bottles of pepsi on their dining table on a trip to (I think it was) Argentina, with the thread title of "Busted" or something like that. |

"Reno top teams are very good" for the festival I will agree, an observer of both levels of competion JO's is without question a higher level of
play. As for "Rancho's 18's finishing in the top 10" is that statement based on their SCVA finish?

Both SCVA final, and the fact they beat TCA Pink at the JO so cal qualifier 25-15 25-16 on day 2. All the socal teams at the top are very good, as are the
top teams from all around the country, but, looking at the top of the 18Open, you would see why the #2 team fro so cal would have an argument. Of course
the JO's is a higher level of play, I dont think id disagree with anyone on that, but, the fact is the top teams at Reno beat many of the top teams from
so cal at the JO's from the 3 divisions. Just curious, what area are you from?
|

They would be facing a different TCA team...you do realize the PINK & BLACK team combined at JO's, and wonder if the "Pink/Black" team
already qualified for JO during so cal qualifier? And "YES" it is more difficult to qualifier in so cal...thats why many of the higher caliber teams
go elsewhere to qualify...I'd better leave it at that.

Right on...its all good, but, some teams are not even allowed to go to the JO's based on club rules. What region or area are you from though? |

That is the Clubs "choice" not to attend JO's not rule. This will be my daughters last year in the SCVA, she played for 7 years
