The more important question is, how much is Rich Z. and Rick Butler making off the "new" JVDA?

How long do you think USAV has been involved (I mean with their fingers in it) regarding JO volleyball? How long have you been at it? If you really had an open
mind you would see that the JVDA organization has been in place for over a year and you want them to be as stable and moving to a given path (if that is what
you think USAV is doing) like the organization you support? Let me tell you.....Rome was not built in one day and for sure USAV is not even close to Rome
itself.
JVDA is advocating a better qualification system that will "help" with cost savings thru the process. If you want the clubs out there today to cut down cost all together you will be forced yourself to do some of these things but not limited to: 1. Reduce coach pay 2. Have less practice time (court use is not free) 3. Lets play with t-shirts 4. Lets not play in tournaments and only play in our gym so we don't have to pay for gas and not have to stay in a hotel 5. Lets all fast during tournament days (no food needed) I can go on and on. I do get that you don't feel that the JVDA ORGANIZATION or its club members are not walking the walk, but what are you doing? Are you walking your walk? Are you trying to help the system get better? So if you don't like the JVDA more power to you, but like it not, they will be around for a long time and people like you are throwing more fuel to the fire. The bigger the fire the more people are going to come and see it and what is the best advertisment "word of mouth and eye that sees". Thanks foir helping them out! Star PS: Mr Butler gave you a rational of their teams staying some extra days in which they are not forced...they just choose.

Seems to me the USAV's AAU branch accomplishes much of what the JDVA bandwagon indicates they want -less cost, less tourney fees, player registration is
less, travel cost are less, shorter season, playing locally for regionals and only have to travel to the one National Championship tourney in Orlando - pretty
simple and can be done without creating a whole new organization and hosting new tourney's etc. Clubs can then play exclusive AAU or combined if they
choose, doesnt have to be either or.
I may be somewhat nieve, but it seems to me that the JDVA is mirrowing the AAU's in many aspects. Has any of these concerned clubs tried or considered utilizing the AAU platrom organization to try and acheive what they are looking for? Just a thought! |

before the season started, there were threads about the JVDA. Someone at that point suggested that if people didn't like having to qualify for nationals
and didn't like the season extending into July then why not just go to AAU Nationals instead of starting a whole new organization. Wouldn't it be
ironic if that's what ends up happening?
Heck, I'm a ref. The more governing bodies out there the more tourneys I get to work. For all I care there could be a new one every year. |

Rick, I know the JVDA will not go away, it's too much money to lose. Since getting facilities to handle a large end of year tournament takes advance
planning, contracts and deposits, where will the end of season tournament be next year? Will it be in Louisville again?

You said it just how I have always wanted to say it to the "JO" people. They should enjoy their tournament and we will enjoy our tournament. I
have seen way more "JO" people worry about JVDA. They should go to Texas and have a good time and we will have a good time in Louisville!

I am not selling a product or promoting a new organization. I dont have to " walk the walk", its not my fight.
If you are selling it as the real deal.....then back it up! If its not stop [promoting it like it is. Rome wasnt built in a day your right but did the Romans tell everyone to come see the Coliseum before it was built, because it was the greatest stadium?? The answer is no and if people want to support JVDA I think its great. Just dont sugar coat it for anything more than it is, a work in progress. It is as imperfect right now as USAV is. Thats all I am saying........ NN |

Dear JVDA Teams,
You left me! Wooed by that flashy new beau that promised to bathe you in extra money (lower fees), be home every night (reduced travel), and a promise to hire a maid (shorter season). With your departure you took the plasma TV (KIVA), the Porsche (Sports Performance), and half the furniture (all the other JVDA teams). We tried to work it out but our differences, which to you seemed insurmountable, drove you into another's waiting and open arms. Well you've now been gone a year. While I try to ignore it, the pain of your loss is still there. Rumors from our mutual friends say that you're happy but the extra money, reduced travel and maid never materialized. I can't help myself in feeling smug that, if true, your reason for leaving was wrong and you'll suddenly wake up to your senses and return home (with the plasma, Porsche and furniture). On the other hand, I also know that I need to stay out of your business, listening to rumors and stalking you. It's unhealthy for me as I just need to let go and move on…but I continue to wallow in self-pity and look for opportunities to downgrade your decision whenever possible in public further driving a wedge between us and killing any hope of a reconciliation. I need to focus on my own baggage and life. There are some new "hotties" on the scene that I've met and will be traveling to Dallas to reengage next weekend. Make no mistake about it though, they are not you. Maybe in time it will develop into something to fill the void. In the meantime I'll continue to try to get over you and stop the incessant stalking of your every move and snide, public comments whenever the opportunity presents itself…but understand, I'm still hurting from your loss (and the plasma, Porsche and furniture. AAU is a member organization of USA Volleyball, the same way that the NCAA and several others are, as well.

Regarding colleges recruiting at the JVDA tournaments....would you say just as many college recruiters showed up at the JVDA events? Or only local colleges or
those with a budget large enough to cover the costs of additional tournaments?
It'd be interesting to see which tournament is preferred for colleges with limited budgets. |

Good stuff from Reporter and Dave Bowman! I am not a fan of the JVDA, but the last time I checked - this was still America. Most importantly, let's do what
is right for the kids!

Ballz Out 10 wrote: Wow, How was it the same cost to go to 2 four day tournaments (AAU & JVDA) as 2 three day qualifiers? That seems literally impossible. At the same
time I find it hard to believe hotels are cheaper in Orlando than anywhere else. Also, I'm assuming you could have driven to one of the qualifiers. Looks
like another post from someone drinking the Kool-Aide. More travel days=More Cost Right?? Maybe there is something I'm missing here.

My intial post on this thread was..
"not to overstate the obvious...but also part of the rationale for JVDA was to reduce travel and cost....right?? So x days in Florida.....followed by x days in louisville." Negative, I dont think so. Argumentative, most likely--that should generate discussion not a negative response. I am not selling anything, I just want to know what product JVDA is selling. They came out with their goals and explanation of why they did things in the pre season. They had their reasons, now various posters on this board are saying the cost savings wasnt there, they traveled same or more. I have also read posts from parents that say cost was less or the same but they played more......which is true? Which is a more accurate reflection of their current system? In any event, the information I am trying to analyze is did JVDA follow through on what they setup as their goals? (shorten the season, reduce cost, etc..) It doesnt have to be negative conversation, but I am certainly not going to sit back while people "spin" this either. I asked a question and got criticisized, so I responded--just as I have seen you do numerous times! Just trying to gather information, either nobody has it or they wish to not share it. Either way thats fine....I guess just have to keep watching ,waiting and listening..... |

All I've seen you do is try to start arguments on the JVDA..
Personally I think you're bitter that all the great midwest teams are not in JO's. You are such a drama queen!! You can sit there and ask "questions" about the JVDA, it's pretty obvious on what you're trying to do. Stirring up the pot.. If there are JVDA parents who are not happy with it.. nobody is making them be a part of it. Obviously if they are not happy, they can move to Nebraska and hang out with you then. All parents have choices on what they want to do.. The one great thing about JVDA is that they are making an effort to improving the sport of Junior Volleyball. Key word.. MAKING AN EFFORT.... That's more then what we can say about USAV.. |

With your 3rd post can you answer the "questions".... or do you prefer to just attack with no basis??
Personally I think you have not a clue what your talking about. Although your blatant disregard for people who clearly dont support your position is noted.

Rick and Rich Z Are these going to be held in Louisville next year? Is that to be a permanent site? Will there be qualifiing critera to play in open next year? This year, there are teams in open that certainly are not open caliber teams. A successful first year, what will be done to improve upon the league in 2009? |

I know you are but what am I?....
Returned from my first trip to the AAU National's. A wonderful show at a great venue run by professionals. It is cheaper to stay in Orlando during the off season which is now Goofy. 4 bedroom condo/pool/jacuzzi $100/night. Hotel rooms could be had for $59.00/night. Both sports facilities were wonderful. Felt great to get in from the heat and cool off, the players also liked it. If you walked 20 paces out the front entrance of the disney sports facility your head would have hit the Wide World of Sports Cafe. No lines, tons of food, Fully stocked bar with several Plasma TV's. We didn't have to play in a county fair gym negotiating cow chips and poo poo smell as we had to do at the Indy Qualifier last year. Didn't have to play in remote HS gyms as folks do at the Fusion love fest's in Wisconsin Dells. My girls missed two days of school between them this year. I saved so much money year I can renew my Prep VB account for three years and have enough money left over for a $9.99 hamburger basket. I'm very happy for the JVDA and the USVA. Competition is the American way. Now I can go and do what I want with my family to celebrate the 4th of July. Lot's of JVDA teams and lots of USVA teams. You know after they started playing it was hard to tell them apart. I'm sure 99% of the kids had a blast. The parents.....who cares. I'm also fourtunate to have so many folks here on Prep VB watching my back so I don't spend too much money or travel too much. Who da thunk it. Now we move on to Kentucky. Where's a good watering hole where we can meet and have a toast to the folks that want to save us from ourselves? P.S. About 120 College coaches AAU " 120 College coaches JO Dallas " 90 College coaches JVDA end of season " ? Wisconsin Dells Exact numbers at University Athlete
