After a week at AAU's, I've come to the conclusion that the average volleyball Joe/Jane knows absolutely nothing about this JVDA thing.
"What's this about some of the midwest teams not coming to Nationals?" was a common question from parents. And when they got the net version of
it, they all just shrugged their shoulders and will probably not think about it again. Just my impression.
And - surprise - this was from parents whose daughters play for clubs that are actually "JVDA members", but who are playing at Nationals. So much for the significance of having your club name included in the JVDA list.
Last observation: looking at the list of teams, the JVDA tournament is for all practical purposes another midwest volleyball tournament. Some awesome teams are playing, for sure, and they will not be tested by the best teams from the rest of the country. What is evident is that very few non-midwest teams have joined the JVDA boycott of USAV Nationals. My prediction is that it will continue this way. I just don't think there's a compelling reason for all of these other clubs to stop playing at USAV Nationals.
