Speaking of seeding.....how do you figure out what seed the team is?

You'll never know. They don't release seeding. Probably a good idea given how much controversy seeding causes.

It appears to me as though it is seeded.....not in alpha order and they Have TAV, KC Power, Laguna and torandoes in the Top 4......

Agreed. I think the seedings are as they read, snake style.

This would be the first year they made it obvious then.

Hmmm... | ||

...looks like a pretty direct, and correct seed, at least through the Top-8 in 17Open also.

Way to go Classics 17 Red

I don;t remember seeing an At Large get a 3rd seed in a pool. You guys are playing well...and it is a well deserved seed. Good luck in Dallas

here's my token rant | ||
|
so.. my team finished top 5 in all four qualifiers we participated in and won our region easily, yet somehow we failed to make the top 25 for JO's
seedings. is it because we never stayed in any of the sponsored hotels?!?!?
|
|||

Sounds about right... | ||
|
There were nine qualifiers, with nine winners, nine seconds, nine thirds and some duplicates. Unless your team took more than one first second or third, you
got quite a deal with a 25 seed. Notwithstanding the fact that seeding is highly overrated, your kids will make a bigger statement by winning their initial
pool and moving into the gold bracket.

wow.. Miz LB 16M... ranked 4th in pool 4.. really? because they just finished tied for first in so cal (even though that doesnt make a difference)... i still
expected a higher seeding... if its a snake seeding, then they would be 12th seed... actually that doesnt sound too bad, but still Wave 16 is seeded 2nd in the
tourny, and also 951 Elite and Sunshine are seeded above them.
actually... i just took a look at SCVA results, and all the SoCal teams represented have all beaten each other numerous time... it should make for an interesting tournament and I can't wait! |

I agree about LB Miz but...

They seemed to really come on strong late in the season and the seeding really only occurs for the first seven teams then the rest of the teams are seeded so
as not to have any regional conflicts. This is from the handbook: SEEDING FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS Seeding for the USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Championships
is determined by team results throughout the year as submitted in either Advanced Event Systems or Sign-Up-To-Play. According to these results, the top quarter
of all participating teams in a tournament (first seeded teams in the first round of pool play) are seeded numerically by strength. For example, the strongest
12 teams in a 48-team tournament are determined from the entire field and then are seeded accordingly by strength from seed No. 1 to seed No. 12. Next, the
second quarter of all remaining teams is determined based on information from Results Reporting. However, these teams are seeded in a different manner than the
first quarter teams. They are seeded primarily in such a way that regional conflicts are avoided and secondarily seeded according to strength. In the same
manner, the third and fourth quarter teams are determined. Then they are seeded first and foremost in the pools where regional conflicts do not occur, and then
with stronger teams seeded higher.

cnbc thanks, that was a legit response and i appreciate it... good to have an educated person around- even to repply to my whiny, tongue-in-cheek comments

Remember this from last year
|
I seem to remember that I read last year that results only through the last qualifer count. So any results after that last qualifier (end of April) would not
be used. Not sure if I have a bad memory or if that is still the rule.

Results reporting... | ||
|
According to USAV JO Manual...
|
|||
VolleyballFan13 |
okay, just found this | ||
|
USA volleyball only uses results through April 23 for open teams and May 7 for club divisions. So, if a team had a great run in May and June, it really won't count. |
