My sources "in the know" are telling me the tournaments will be in the following locations:
Girls: Miami
Boys: Atlanta
Adults: Minneapolis
Might have already been posted here, but I didn't see it when I ran a search.

I'm not at Adult Opens, so I don't know if these have been announced there officially or not. Going into National Enquirer mode...

Wow, isn't this post early this year?
Usually it starts right at the end of JO's. |

Wasn't Miami the big rumor last year, too?

It was rumored to be Miami two years ago when it was on-again-off-again in Minneapolis. For some reason I don't even remember the rumors last year but I
knew it was Dallas for some time.....somehow. I have also heard Miami from a very reliable individual for next year.

why not in so cal | ||
|
It is very, very seldom in So Cal because of cost....if you notice USAV travels to out of season summer places...i.e. the weather is terrible...(houston, atlanta, minneapolis, dallas and if correct miami)....with out of season places USAV is able to secure empty hotel rooms, car rentals on the cheap... If the tournament is in So Cal during the summer, an in season time, the rooms would be more expensive etc... It is just another object West teams have to overcome...travel, time zones etc that midwest and eastern teams do not...i.e. a 8 am est starting time is equivalent to starting at 5am pst... if they were to play in So Cal, to return the favor, the open start times should be at 8pm pst so the east/midwest teams time play at 10 pm or 11 pm, depending on your time zone...be interesting to see how those teams would play over a 3-4 day tourney, starting at night....it is the 3rd and 4th day when the sleep pattern change really hits players |

Actually the weather was wonderful in Minneapolis last year...it was the cost of the airfare that was bad.

The weather was nice in Minnie but that was not the norm for that time of year...

So Cal | ||

With nationals having 850 plus teams does So cal have the courts to host without playing all over the place?
I really don't know how big some of those convention centers are. |

Brasil,
The second largest city in the coutry..... either the LA, Long Beach or Anaheim convention center that could host....the the real problem is cost. |

Minneapolis was beautiful last year.. we spent some time walking around one of the lakes a couple of times. It was really nice; almost tried to butt our way
into some beach ball that was going on.

well we have the ASC (American Sports Center) down the street from Disneyland. Its basically where SCVA holds many of its regular tournaments. It only has
about 22 courts.. which is not nearly enough... anybody know how many courts the LA or long beach convention center could possibly hold?

I think one of the major factors behind were USAV goes for Nationals is the fact of convention center busy season. Each city has differant busy season for
conventions, for examples in Atlanta it is really busy between Feb and May ... if you want to rent space in the summer there is ton to be rented. I believe one
of the reason why Southern Cal has hosted JO is the fact of convention center availablity.

Miami - official?! | ||

Miami is listed on the Lone Star Region's web site as the 2009 Girls National Championship Site. Brush up on your Spanish because English may no longer be
the city's primary mode of communication.

I think Miami is a little used to tourists. Your english or poor spanish will be just fine. There are plenty cubans down there who speak better english than
most americans.

Long Beach | ||
|
Long Beach, CA
224,000 sq ft (about 100 courts) (if needed, Long Beach State Pyramid 8 courts could be used for say 14 - Open and/or 12 and 13's American Pools) With PM and AM waves and the newly staggered system, it could work. I actually think Long Beach would be the ideal place to have it year after year --- lot's of new things to do, restaurants, mall, OC or South Bay beaches, easy freeway and airport access etc. --- I'm sure the folks at Mizuno LB would love it. Close to Laguna Beach, The "OC", Disneyland, Hollywood, AVP tournament, etc etc -- places I'm sure many of the midwest and east coast teams would love to visit. The finals could be played in the sports arena attached to the Convention Center, and it seats about 13,000 (site of 2004 NCAA Women's VB Final Four), great site for the finals..... The downtown L.A. convention center down the road would be big enough, but it'll be too difficult with traffic scenarios etc. -- Not too sure of the Anaheim convention center in regards to available space. Too bad all (3) are considered Tier I CC's..... Which makes them very expensive to host this type of event.

I've never been to Miami. It would be a nice change from the same old cities we visit every year for either Nationals or Qualifiers (SLC,
Houston/Dallas, Atlanta) and being at the beach? AWESOME. That would definitely give our team extra motivation to qualify
