Would college coaches prefer to view players on You-tube or mail in game tape/dvd. Anyone did the You-tube and any feedback?

I think it worked great. Coaches were able to watch the video on-line. When a coach requested a skills tape, you could send them the link asap. In this
electronic age, I think it is the way to go.

Skills video would probably work well for coaches, but not game footage. |

We did both. When we emailed the profile to the coaches we included a link to the YOU TUBE site where we had several short films of her doing various things.
We receive feedback from several coaches that they loved that. We had over 500 viewings per clip. The basic purpose of it is "to wet their
appetite" to come watch you play. We also did mass mailing of DVD's. It really depends on the coach, but most do want a DVD regardless.

A better site to upload these type of videos is www.vimeo.com Free and hi-definition!

We have a way to embed your YouTube videos into your profile so when caches search for a player, they see a little video icon and can click to view. It's
free.

DVD on not? | ||

Google video is also good. They don't limit file size like You Tube does.
What about it, college recruiters/coaches-do you also need a DVD to add to the many stacked up in your office (I've seen the numerous boxes) or does a good quality video online suit your needs? Inquiring minds want to know.... |

Ironically, YouTube is Google or vice-versa. Just remember to disable comments. The things some bored (young and old) individuals feel compelled to write can
be pretty ugly. And I know ugly.
The one, the only registered guest, has left the building.

Online streaming is a great idea | ||

I would agree with coaches. It makes sense to me that online streaming has many benefits for a college coach. The biggest benefit for a recruit would be the
speed a prospective coach can view your video. With the link attached to an E-mail, a college coach can view your video with one click of the mouse versus 1)
waiting for the DVD 2) opening the envelope 3) placing the DVD in a player or computer and so on. I would think the sooner you get seen the better.
An important key to consider when choosing an online web streaming site is the quality of the video player. It is important for the video player to be able to fast forward and rewind the video with ease. This would give the coach the ability to fast forward through areas a coach would not want to watch and be able to rewind and watch any specific segments worth a second look. Not sure which online video site has the best video player? |

For our most recent recruits, a short YouTube clip to introduce a players skills followed by a DVD at our request worked well.
That way, if it's obvious that a player does not have the skills/ability from viewing the YouTube clip, then neither of us have to waste our time with the DVD sending/viewing. |
