what is the difference in the USAV and how they run qualifiers to get to the big dance and how other private organizations qualify their respective teams?
example i was thinking of because this hits home with me is NHRA; being from the south and actually did this for 4 years. i bought my own car, modified myself, turned all the wrenches, drove my little car to events all across the country, competed in events that gave me points towards qualifying for the big dance. if i didnt drive to the events then i didnt race, i didnt race i didnt get points, no points no championships. i had to come up with money first for the car, developing a race program, take off and miss friday and monday work 12 weekends every year PLUS crawling under the car every weekend i wasnt racing. and guess what? i did it, and i loved it. it was a sacrifice to do the thing i wanted to do. drag racing for THE title was expensive. was i beaten a lot of weekends by teams that had pit crews, had no other job except racing, and finiancial backers from every corner of the world? yes, yes and of course.
i guess my questions all point towards this comment. everything in life has a cost. we just have to decide what 'things' we want to participate in and just how much we are willing to pay for it. its not like everyone in junior volleyball doesnt know how much money, time and effort it takes to participate in this 'thing' at a high level. this is and should be no surprise to people. if you want to just "play" at this "thing" then just like drag racing you can go down to your neighborhood track and for $15 bucks you can race in local test and tunes until and bracket classes until your face is blue. similarly, if you just want to play volleyball then find a club that just "plays" volleyball around where you live and dont join up with a club/team that "forces" you to travel and spend so much time/money
