JT-Have you ever posted a rankings list (like the new 16's just out) and not gotten a single response?
You must have nailed this one! |

Yeah, we don't want John to get spoiled so I'll shoot.
Encinitas who? You can never discount the best team in California but does anyone know anything about them? Northern Lights may have been the best team in Atlanta in any age group, and Fusion and SPRI get their shot at them this weekend. I don't know if No Lights has been outplayed at Setter and Outside in a match yet this year, but with Fusion thats possible. SPRI probably isn't as strong as those two, but they have the horses to beat anyone on any given day. Young Guns aren't impressive to watch for one game, but they don't lose and apparently they are impressive to watch over time which may be a more significant compliment. MAVA deserves mention because they ARE impressive to the eye the moment you see them, but they have actually lost matches <gasp> so they probably have to be ranked below the four above. |

Those of us who play in the So Cal Power League and who were at the So Cal Qualifier have seen an know that Encinitas Wave deserves the high ranking #2! Our
girls have played 15 teams in the top 35. Including TAV, Young Guns, Sunshine etc. Wave by far was the best team they've seen all year. I think they
should be one of the favorites to medal at JO's. I do not know about some of the other team in the mid west and east, "I just have a west coast
Bias!"

Waves are talented! | ||

Congrates to Kelly Reeves of Encinitas Waves for making the youth National Team. A very strong talented hitter who plays to win and also shows great
sportsmanship!

Thanks for having the El Paso Wildfire in your final 10. This team has worked very hard to get where they are. Lets see how they do in dallas (jos).

I believe the last comment was directed towards sister site Lone Star Volleyball's final rankings for Texas

We are from another region. We did not play Wave in So Cal, but happily watched -- they are really really good! I think #2 is perfect, and think they are on
the heels of #1 Northern Lights.

Things in this age group has to be pretty tough when a team like the Young Guns can finish the regular season 51- 3, beat all 17's they played, only loose
to one 18's team (AEV 18-1s), win two big National Qualifiers (Colorado Crossroads & Lone Star) and only end up ranked no #4. It is either a very tough
age or there is some bias in the ranks.

Since the three teams ranked ahead have been just as good, I'll conclude very tough age group.
Bias would be if you were ranked behind the Central Cal team you barely beat to win Crossroads or the TAV team you barely beat to win Lone Star. As it is, you are the No. 4 team in the country, No. 4!!

roads to a medal will go through those four teams.

I can't believe that the best team 16 team in the Puget Sound Region did not even make the teams considered list- UPVBC16's. This team not only won our
Power League and the Prime Time Tournament ahead of WAVA and Olympia, but they did so very convincingly. They also played very well at the SCal qualifier and
at the Spokane Qualifier.
Great job UPVBC! |

I think if they played in the qualifiers at the open level and had success, they'd have been considered. Doing well in the club division does not help
their case.

It seems this team did not play open, let alone win in the club divisions they played. If you do your research, you will find several teams that finished
better than they did at the club division and did not get ranked. I would suggest watching some the ranked or open teams this year at JO's and do a
comparison.

My point was that this team beat teams in the "teams considered" list, that's all.
