Good work, JT | ||

Now you can settle in and let the teams do the talkin on the courts at the Festival, AAU's, JO's and the JVDA championships.

What's to argue? | ||

John,
How are we supposed to have an active and heated discussion when you nail it so that there is nothing worth arguing about? You really need to slip in a few misrankings just to catch us in case we are sleeping? I would like to argue that the frogs should be higher, but that is probably just because they have our number so badly that they have beat us 3 times straight over 2 years. On the flip side, we love to play the Wave and it is great to see them up so high. Here is hoping that we can surprise some people in Dallas and jump into your top nickname section. |

Rankings | ||

Thanks for your efforts with the 15 rankings. I know it must be difficult without the benefit of seeing many of these teams play. It appears obvious through
your court reports and these rankings that you have not had an opportunity to watch the 15 year old JVDA teams.
Team Z 15 Orange has beaten both KIVA and MAVA 2 out of 3 times and only has one other loss the whole season. All three losses were 15-13 in the third game. They have won 38 of the last 39 matches for a 43-3 overall record. I would hope you get a chance to see more of the JVDA 15s and get a chance to write more about them. You mention that 3 of the top 5 on your list are JVDA- I would submit there should be another- Team Z. Thanks again for your support of club volleyball. Hope to see you in Louisville! |

A5 underrated | ||
|
A5 15 Heidi beat several teams listed ahead of them. Granted, they've never played all the California and JVDA teams listed ahead of them, but it seems a
bit out of whack to finish 2nd, 3rd and 5th at Open and not be in the top 15. Of course, once AAUs and JOs are done, the picture will be clearer.

Team Z | ||
|
It seems awfully tough to drop Team Z from preseason #4 to current #10. They have beaten KIVA 2 of 3 times, MAVA 2 of 3 times and have only one other loss,
coming early in the season. Not to mention they are 8-0 against the rest of the top 35. Yes, the team is hurting physically, but they have not really been
full strength the entire season. Virtually every time they have taken the court they have been less than full strength, and continue to prove they can win.
Looking forward to the end of season tournaments and seeing if the girls can bring home the JVDA championship. |

Having seen A5 plenty and knowing both whom it beat and its losses, I think the ranking is right on. No national top 15s team has lost 10 times.
If by "several" you mean three, then I agree with you. But you also lost to two of those teams as well as three teams, MAVS (split), Niagara Frontier (split) and Circle City rated behind you. You also lost to Cajunland and Mad Frog, which is why you're behind them. As for Z, I'm not going to throw anyone under the bus here. Do youself a favor and ask your coach if he has been filling me in on Team Z happenings at all or e-mail privately, john@prepvolleyball.com, if you want the whole story. I felt fortunate to get some information from another Z coach, the only reason I have anything legitimate to say about them at all.

Thanks for the effort, John! | ||

Great attempt at piecing things together, John. Not an easy task.
With 23 of the 28 Open teams in your top 35 and a couple of National teams, also, it sure stacks up to be a fun time in Dallas with some great play ahead of us. Good luck to all!!!! |

JTawa wrote: They did beat #16 Team Indiana and went 2-1 against #13 St. Louis CYC. Our biggest win was over #2 KC Power (though they did lose to them as well). So
there's the three I believe you are referring to. Not having seen all the teams, I can't say how much of a gap there is among teams 16-23. There's
no doubt the team needs to perform in Orlando and Dallas and I'm sure they will.
I fully admire John for his work here (and I hope he knows that), so don't get me wrong.

No worries Kurt. It could be that you should properly be top 15. BUT, the Mad Frog loss hurts, because MF went to Far Westerns and lost some toughies to
California teams that elevated Cali in my eyes. Because MF went down, you had to go down also.

MADFROG did struggle the last day in Reno... they lost some very close games like to Club West in the third game 21-19 and to Mavericks in the third game
18-16. It should be great to see the rematches in Dallas!!!!

JTawa wrote: Makes sense. We didn't see any California teams this year, so it's hard for me to make any good comparisons. We are very proud of 15 Heidi down here - they've had one of the best seasons ever for a 15s team from this area. Keep up the good work and I hope to see you in Dallas.
