What to consider with these choices

My daughter will have to make some decisions here pretty quickly that may affect what happens in the fall, thus the asking of input now. What are some of the things we should think about when choosing one of the following options? - Playing with a very strong Club A number one team (has done well in both club and open) with possibly limited play time (this is where she played this year) - Playing with a very strong Club A number two team (has done well in club with no open play), with more play time but possibly less visibility - Playing with a not as strong Club B number one team (has done ok in open and well in club) with more play time other number one team (had an invitation to join this team this year, but passed to play with other club) Anyway, just looking at what types of things we need to consider when making these choices. Quality of head coaches and assistants(position coaches?) 2. position they will play 3. leadership opportunities on teams 4. distance from home/school 5. cost 6. schedule (# of qualifiers for visibility) Her age is a factor( prime recruiting years or younger) Where she fits into the juniors volleyball scene( you mention visibility so I suspect that she is hoping to play in college). Her characteristics, i.e over 6'1"or left handed or only played vb for 2 years etc. would all be factors that should be considered to individualize the decision to your daughter. Decision is specific to your daughter and is very individualized

There were some things in your list that I hadn't really thought about. My daughter will be playing 16s next year and would like to play in college, so visibility is important. (She doesn't expect to play at Penn State, but could probably play a small D1 or D2 school) When comparing the choices, the biggest differences come in at leadership opportunities and distance from home/school. And with those, each goes to a different club. Decisions, decisions. Ahhh well, such is the life of a club vballer. thanks again!

But she's on a 1's team, got a lot of playing time and great coaching, and has improved tremendously this year, enough so that she is considered a leader on the team. In my opinion your focus should be finding the club situation this promotes the growth of your daughter's skills. I don't know if visibility is as important this year as next. And we had a bad experience with your second option, a 2's team in a top tier club. The expectations were too high for the level of talent on the roster and drama ensued.

Thanks. What does your daughter want to do? Did she enjoy riding the bench this year? Did she like the girls on the team? (I would assume it would be the same core group next year) Did you like the other parents on the team? Those would be some of my intitial questions.
