The main reason it takes so long to publish the pools is that teams are dropping out or coming in til the bitter end. Also, ECC is always held Memorial Day
weekend, so the calendar dictates the "earliness" or "lateness" of the tournament.

Totally understand cruncher! Just very cool that we know, even though it may be tentative, so early when and where we are playing.

Check out: http://thedaily.washington.edu/2001/8/8/volleyball-coach-retires-shortly-before-season/ And as far as starting a club, I couldn't disagree with you more. I've talked to him about it, and he likes that he is unbiased in his approach to coaching. He isn't affiliated with any club in any way, and that is why so many clubs are represented in his gym. I don't forsee teams running practices in his gym either as it takes a bit of restructuring to make that happen. He isn't bitter about his experience at UW. He always has an open door at his gym if anyone wants to meet him, or talk volleyball with him. I have gain plenty as a coach just in working with him at his gym. In response to VK, I don't think there is any reason for Tony to just step down from his position. He is just as qualified for the junior director position, and works hard in what he does. Again, I see both as being good candidates. |

Great to have the pools for ECC up. ECC was the first introduction for our family to a "big time" jr volleyball tournament and will be the final
one of dd club career. It remains hands down the best tournament anywhere in my opionion is so many ways. |

Thanks Blazer for setting the record straight. Something smelled with those spins spewing from Husky! Sounds like he and Hilary have the same problems with mis

BIG THANKS | ||

WVBA does not have a boys team but has consistently and generously over the past three years donated an open court to the Jr boys in our region & allowed us to be part of this great event. More information about our third annual ECC international boys' friendship tournament is available on the boys board. Again thanks to all the folks at WVBA for their continued support! |

His UW bio does include the line "the Seattle native" but I guess I missed that. As to my speculation that he might start a club or get one to practice at his gym - I guess I guessed wrong, but gee, when someone says "I have
actually been surprised" and "I would not be surprised" it is obviously speculation. It seemed to be a logical next step but only one of many
possibilities.
OK, I am going to shut up about Bill Neville now. |

I'm not anti Miranda in any way whatsoever! Just seems to me that fresh ideas and a new perspective would benefit girls who play club ball.

ECC Seeding?! | ||

LOL...I know WVBA 15's have been doing well lately, placing 3rd in 16's regionals but, NW Jr's 15 Thunder won Prime Time AND 15's regionals without dropping a single match! (correct me if I'm
wrong Leon) So why is it that WVBA 15's have a number 11 overall seed and NW has a 26 overall?!?! Of course it would help if Leon would update his
results at Signuptoplay.com!!! (Sorry Leon...gotta call you out on that one!) And didn't they beat WVBA twice at Prime Time? Talk about some home
tournament advantage!
Looks like there are a few teams that shouldn't be in open too. What's with giving the Canadian teams and the Evergreen and Columbia Empire regions a boost up in rankings? |

WVBA 15's and NW JRs. seeding looks sweet to me.
Hopefully we get to duel it out again. WVBA has beaten NW a couple times back - U know. WVBA played in the open division in Reno and placed well in 16's regionals. Most all of the strongest 15's teams were out of town during 15's regionals. |

vbmomster wrote: Seriously? C'mon vbmomster!!! I'm not sure if your joking or not.
You neglected to tell us how they did in Reno...Probably because they placed 15th out of 27 teams. Not a very strong reason to be seeded higher.
Oh yeah...I think they're going to nationals too. Still think the seeding is correct? If you're going to throw out non-sense on this board, someone is going to call you on it. If you're going to hurl it at a NW team, I'll dig deep to make sure you don't have a leg to stand on. Now have a great weekend and enjoy the weather...it may be our only chance at summer! |

Well I have to admit I thought it was twice. Let the record speak for itself.
I don't know if the seeding is correct. I am not a coach and I don't create the pools for tournaments. When coach J posted the seeding for nw, I have to admit that made my day. I had looked up the pools several days earlier but only looked at ours. It doesnt make a difference to me where NW is or even us for that matter as this is not a qualifer. All I know is that we were not seeded 4th in the tournament and seeded above 3 other teams from our region ranked above us. It so made my day.. We played some great teams in Reno and even came close to winning in 3 to a couple of them. What was awesome about Reno was they took their level of play up to where we had not seen them before. Could not hold it there and finish off the matches but very fun to watch them play there.

seeding | ||

I am pretty sure the way the do the seeding is by the final result of the power league not the last tournament they played in. By looking at that WVBA is
ranked 1st and NW Jrs. is 4th. It is a season long thing here.
On another note it looks like Sudden Impact 18's got a realocation bid even though they finished 5th at prime time. |

kjfan wrote:That may very well be, however, as coaches we were supposed to fill out results on signuptoplay so they could do seeding. As a coach, you can also check results on there...so can tournament directors so they can seed properly...and that is why they ask you to fill it in. So, if they are actually using that, which it doesn't look like they are, why are they doing such a bad job of seeding? Just as an example, we (NW 16 Storm) beat Desert Scorpians (#16 seed) and Webfoot 16 Silver (#25 seed) easily earlier in the season...both out of region teams. Both teams are in Open and we are in Club. You also have a very good Lake Tapps team in Club along with Rain City 16's that are a pretty darn good team. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind being in Club as long as the seeding actually puts us there, which for many teams, it doesn't look like seeding was done correctly. It goes back to what I said before about giving out of state/country teams a little edge in seeding...along with a certain WVBA team. At least that is what it looks like to me. |

OK - You really wanted to open this all up again..
First off you don't have to be a coach to check results or look up tournament events on signuptoplay. I have had an account for several years and use it maybe three or four times a season. CJ where was your unhappiness at the seeding for pnq? Don't remember you being shocked and outspoken with the BIG edge that was given to the thunder nw jr team in the national qualifier?? Remember how Thunder was seeded well ahead of PS, Capital and the WVBA team whom you say has a "little edge in seeding" for ECC. PS, Capital and WVBA were all seeded third in their pools while the Thunder team was seeded 1st and 4th seed overall in open division. A little surprised on your dismay on the seeding for ECC, since as you just said there are no results posted on signuptoplay for this NW Thunder's team. That has been the case all season, and was a major source of frustration with the Thunder team being seeded way ahead of all the other Puget Sound teams. Pray tell how that could have happened with no results on signuptoplay? Well let's see ~ The info had to come from our region. Imagine that.. Is there a connection with the region and the NW Jrs club? Of course there IS!! The director of our region is the club director of the NW Jr. volleyball club. By the way.. ~It's the 16th~ Voting members in our PS region hope you all did not forget to VOTE and cast your ballots!!! CJ - We know how your vote is going since you have made it clear that you feel the juniors region director should be affiliated with a club offering a unique situation for that one club don't u think. You are also running for a position. Right? What was that again?

15? | ||

The 15th was yesterday.
The whole point of a power league is to be able to seed more effectively. Most regioins use one but there are still several that don't. Are the age groups for the most part seeded out of order from the power league? The other regions are most likely seeded in the same order that their power leagues ended and the teams that don't have them or are from farther away are put into the mix as best they could. If your team should be in Open that is a good team. It means you shouldn't drop a game all weekend. Good luck everyone. |
