Yeah, I think that is true. True open teams don't really enjoy playing 'club' level teams (or benefit from it) because their games sink some with lesser competition. I suppose that some teams, who could play with the pros but not win, just want to go to JOs and so try and win club. But frankly, I don't see the point in spending so much money so late in the season to go to AAU nationals or JOs and play in national or, worse, american divisions. I'd rather spend the money on a family vacation and let my child get a break from VB if her team isn't one of the top teams in the country.

Top Ten Reasons for Going to JO's (even if it's only a National or American bid), one player's view

10.	Never been to Texas (haven't seen all 50 States yet)!
9.	I like to get gifts and I should bring back at least 9 of them.
8.	I get to add a another T-shirt to my collection to wear during the fall high school season.
7.	I'm not (on My Space, watching T.V., out with the bf, "fill in the blank") for at least six + hours a week.
6.	I get a vacation from my brother!
5.	I get to see old friends, make new ones and play some incredible volleyball every match.
4	Maybe at the end of JO's I can say my team is one of the top 50 teams in the U.S. Isn't that like saying you're on average the best in the State (especially if your not from California or Texas)?
3.	Get to continue volleyball training for another month with some great coaches.
2.	My team is made up of girls from six different cities…and I get to spend more time with some of my best friends.
1.	I love to play volleyball and I don't want my season to end!
