COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 21, 2008) - In an effort to help athletes improve their chances of getting recruited to play at the collegiate level, USA Volleyball (USAV) is pleased to announce PrimeTimePlayer Recruiting Enhanced Directory (PTP RED) as an official sponsor and sport development partner.
PTP RED is owned in part by Deion Sanders, a retired National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB) player who is committed to helping youth pursue excellence in all sports. Tom Lemming, a member of the hit CBS College Sports Network show Generation Next and nationally renowned recruiting guru, also plays a major role in the company designed to help teen athletes "make it" to the next level in their respective sports.
The concept of PTP RED is simple and effective. USAV athletes between the ages of 13-19 simply log on to the interactive site (www.primetimeplayer.com) and build a sports profile (stats, sports photos, bio, videos, etc.). For a $99 fee, their information will be extracted from the site and placed in a specialized directory that will be sent to more than 500 U.S. colleges and universities. Parents also receive a copy of the full-color book with each feature profile purchase.
Volleyball recruiters will receive the inaugural editions in August 2008. Over 90 percent of the college scouts and recruiters polled believe PTP RED has the ability to revolutionize the recruiting process and make finding untapped talent much easier; especially for programs with small recruiting budgets.
PTP RED was designed to bring additional exposure to athletes who are not in the top two percent in their respective sports. Recruiters are very aware of the very best athletes in every sport. PTP RED is the first publication to focus on the "very good" athletes who are more than capable of competing on the collegiate level. Students can be featured as early as seventh grade, which gives them more opportunities to get recognized as colleges will receive new editions of PTP RED year after year.
PTP RED is supported by www.primetimeplayer.com. The site allows athletes to upload videos, photos and stats for free. Recruiters can refer to each athlete's permalink (personal web link) as listed in the directory and view the latest information on each volleyball player.
Kerry Klostermann, USAV secretary general, worked directly with DL Wallace, president of PTP RED, to orchestrate this powerful alliance.
"USA Volleyball is proud to partner with Prime Time Player and PTP RED as our core values are very much aligned" Klostermann said. "Both organizations believe in giving every athlete the opportunity to be recognized and a chance to succeed."
"USAV is a phenomenal organization that is truly committed its athletes," Wallace said. "This partnership is evidence of that commitment as our collective efforts are designed to give USAV athletes the exposure they deserve."
About Deion Sanders
Deion Sanders, a future Hall of Fame football player, is excited about the new alliance formed with USAV. "People know me as a football and baseball
player," Sanders said. "However, I am committed to seeing young athletes succeed in all sports and PTP RED helps accomplish this goal at a price
families can afford." Sanders will also be using his personality and passion to bring even more exposure to the fastest growing sport in the world. He
wants youth to focus on excellence in sports and in the classroom; which makes them more marketable to colleges.
