Was looking at the proposed Wofford schedule. If it stays the same, Wofford plays all of its north division opponents between October 4 and October 19

Unique Spring get together for 6 SoCon schools on Sat. (4/26). UNC-G is hosting a Sand Tournament with twenty-two 2-person teams. The 6 SoCon schools represented in Greensboro this Sat. will be: Davidson
Let's hope the weather cooperates and that the girls enjoy the diversion from their usual hard court pounding. If any other SoCon poster is in attendance, it would be nice to have a wrap up of how things went. Regardless, GOOD LUCK girls!!!!!!!!! |

Word has it that coach Kepner looked inside the Cougar family and hired Alexis Lowes, a 2006 graduate of CofC and outstanding player for prior coach, Sherry

APR Recognition | ||
|
Elon's Volleyball program was listed with a perfect 1000 APR in USA Today this past week. The team received an NCAA Public Recognition Award for 2007-08.
It appears the NCAA is slowly implementing academic penalties for schools with with APR's below 925.

In general, I think the APR process is a good thing. The NCAA has found a way to tackle programs that are under performing academically and hitting individual
programs where it hurts - with loss of scholarships.
I would tweak the retention factor however. If a player plays for a team, but decides to quit the team, meanwhile still remaining at that school and eventually graduating from that school, the program gets hit. This is the one aspect of the APR that I believe shouldn't be factored in. If someone decides that they want to participate in the theatre program and no longer wants to be a member of an athletic team, it shouldn't reflect negatively on that team. |
