Background: We played the final games of our regional tournament today. During our next to last match, the games were close and went to 3. The winning team had one more match to get past for a bid so it was a critical win. After the match my daughter complained about the 'out of hand' parents on the opposing team. I thought she was exaggerating because I didn't hear it, but I wasn't on the court and I wasn't the line judge. Later, she got a text from a volleyball friend and she shared it with me - saying 'See, I told you about those parents'. Names have been changed to protect the kids and offending parents' club. Susan heyy! do u kno who qualified? Mary uhmm, nope haha. we didn't wait around after we lost. our next game the other team dropped out becasue it wasnt for a bid so we all went out to eat and talked about sand try-outs. susan haha did yall get to the semis? mary we got fifth and then had to play an open team, but it was one of our best games even if we lost howd you do? susan well we lost to texas blue this morning then beat texas red so i think that made us ninth mary oh cool hah we beat texas yellow then lost to texas green susan haha ya i refed the game you played against texas yellow and those parents yelled at me the whole game and two other girls on my team they were so rude. mary wow lol thats so annoying, i hate parents like that. they act so stupid about vb susan haha ik its like i was shut up. yelling wont do nething. but i was glad when the ref ruled in my favor every time mary haha i knoww i always just wanna throw the vball at them susan ahha ahh ik! they yelled at me the first point at yalls game. then they yelled at the other girl the whole 2nd game. then before the thurd game they were like to dianne, dont screw up like the other girls have mary wow dang susan ya so im glad yall won. id never play for a club like that mary hah well thanks, me too lol. but oh well its all over now, kinda relieving actually. i did jos the last two years and you never get a break between club and school. it gets you burned out sometimes susan haha ya we get r weekends back mary yeah and now we can start sand!! i love sand. even your coach cant yell at you there lol our tryouts and first game is next week. ru still doing club next year? susan course!! It was quite the "experience". At one point we had to ask parents to move (they were standing right behind my score keeper yelling,clapping and cheering during the match). During another game, we had a parent who kept yelling at our player calling lines. Stopped the match and had the official talk to the coach. This was after my assistant asked the parent to stop. The parent's excuse? Supposedly my player yelled at her daughter in a prior game. Interesting.....since they never reff'd any of our matches the entire year. Besides the fact......girls talking to other girls is one thing....a parent yelling at a 12-13 y/o is quite another. My players work hard to do their best at their officiating duties. I don't think any player purposely tries to make "bad" calls. Parents just need to realize that sometimes questionable lines calls are just part of the game.

I don't think any player purposely tries to make "bad" calls. Parents just need to realize that sometimes questionable lines calls are just part of the game. Those same parents should call lines in an intense game. It's not that easy. Hats off to the girls!

As tournament director I went and asked him to please stop, as it was inappropriate behavior and he needed to set a better example for the players. He continued arguing with me until I pretty much told him he had to stop or leave. The match was over, the ref made the correct call going with the line judge who was totally paying attention and made the call immediately. He didn't have a better angle on the end line and didn't over rule her because of it. He happens to be a very good official, I was standing on the sideline and agreed with her call. Do you know what his justification was later when he stopped back to talk to me? He didn't think that the 11s team had an appropriate ace cheer!!!! What that has to do with an adult going after an 11 (probably 10) year old line judge????? Ironically, he wasn't hearing the cheer right and was thinking they were saying something they weren't. When I approached the club coach later about him he admitted they had problems with this guy other places. I feel for his 10 year old twins for the future as he is sure to be the guy talked about here on a regular basis!

Our girls were playing a team from K.C. who had a mom that was right under the net opposite of the team benches coaching and screaming on every move these girls made. A few times she got in the way of the OH from her team because she was so close to the net. - Psycho is the only word that describes this mothers actions. I have always told my daugther to stick by your decision and focus on the game and ignore us crazy parents in the stands.

I have learned to ignore them or please ask them to calm down. In the end volleyball is just a game so whats the point ever to get that upset about it.

Registered Member Posts: 44 (05/05/08 1:34 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	We played against that team at Big South as well ... at first we were all rather stunned and puzzled by this mom's participation on every play ... but as we watched her antics over the next couple of days, we found her enthusiasm to be quite entertaining and fun ... the girls nicknamed her "Cheerleader Mom" and it seems she'll have lots to cheer for in the coming years ... her daughter is an outstanding player.
