If I read correctly - only 15 teams for 4 bids in the 18s tournament.
Where is the Texas Eclipse 18s team? |

my inside source once told me that the season for the 18s Eclipse team would be complete at Lone Star.

The 18s Eclipse team is pretty good. This is the last chance for the team to qualify for nationals and they would have a good shot. You know for a club that
is trying to be one of the top tier clubs in Austin, this is disappointing. If I'm the parent of one of their 16 or 17 year players, I'm looking to
move to the Austin North team in their area or TCA.

It was the players decision and not the coaches or directors.
How do you keep 18s who have already committed to a college playing club? |

How do you keep 18s who have already committed to a college playing club?Just reinforces what I said. I believe the Austin Jrs and TCA 18s have all their players recruited for college and Austin is playing in nationals and TCA is trying to get to nationals. Sadly, not all the Eclipse seniors have been recruited. I believe 4 of the seniors are committed to the same college. I hope they are not the ones who refused to play regionals. Those Eclipse 16s and 17s may look elsewhere next season. |

TEJV 18's | ||

They had a great season and all will have their chance to continue to play in college. The girls as well as the club felt that their senior proms and senior
expiriences were worth more in their lives than another chance to go to JO's. They will have planety more chances to play volleyball but only one senior
year. Did they have the option to play, yes. Would the the club have loved for them to play yes, but the success of that club doesnt hinge on it whether they
go or not. Last year it was suppose to have hurt the club because they chose to keep that group at 17's and not have an 18's team but yet they grew by
6 teams. They are currently the 3rd biggest club in Austin and plan to be the second biggest next year. So continue to doubt them because of what they dont
have and arent doing and I'll sit back and watch them continue to grow. The expirience the girls have and what they take away from their experience with
the club is more important to them than walking in the gym in a straight line with all their bags on their left shoulder. They are not a machine and never will
be. NO disrespect to those who are but it's just not they way they do things. No matter how big they get they will always maintain their family oriented
attitude. That's what makes them different and that's what will keep them successful as well as the core of good coaches they have that provide great
training to those athletes. Will athletes leave the club and go elsewhere yes, it happens to every club. But I garuntee it wont be because ther 18's chose
not to go to regionals.

Weren't 4 of the players committed to the same college as a package out of their high school? Wish their HS coach could comment. It wouldn't happen
to be their prom?
I'm wondering why the team played in national qualifiers if their intent wasn't to play in nationals. Regionals is what separates the tier of clubs in a city. After all this isn't Pflugerville Volleyball club or Jolleyville or the Hill Country Elite clubs. Woody, we know your team would be at regionals if they hadn't earned their bid. I guess they aren't family oriented? |

Coach E,
The answer to your first question is no. The 4 athletes your talking about all were signed b/c of the work their CLUB coach did during their 17's
season. Their coach Brittany Williams worked extremely hard to get these girls where they are right now.-- Including college scholarships. Not that you
would know.
If you want my perception, the only non-family oriented club in this city starts with a T and ends witn an A. I would know too since I happen to be FAMILY of one of those athletes. All the same good luck to all of our local 18's teams. |

Coach E - I just want to follow your line of reasoning. I know this won't include the 18s age group but you said
"I'm wondering why the team played in national qualifiers if their intent wasn't to play in nationals. Regionals is what separates the tier of clubs in a city. After all this isn't Pflugerville Volleyball club or Jolleyville or the Hill Country Elite clubs." So why would I move one of my kids to TCA for instance when their 16s played at Baltimore and LSC and are in the club division not the bid division of regionals? Same for the second 14s and 15s teams which also traveled to and particpated in qualifiers (again NEQ and LSC) and yet they too are in the club not bid divisions at regionals. So is TCA not a top tier club in Austin as a result? I mean if this is their shot at qualifying why not play where the bids are? If it was a consent agreement amongst the players, parents and coaches (or at least the first group) then that is fine in my opinion. The alternative could have been trying to pull teams together at the last minute (hybrid 18s) or combine 18s like AJV did either last year or two years ago because players chose not to play. I don't think that not playing regionals will have an impact on whether or not players go or stay at Eclipse. |

Why | ||

After 20 years I think it's time to take a volleyball sabatical. I am getting married in australia in november and may find it too hard of a place to
leave. Wifey to be got offered a 6 figure job in florensic psych and I am happy to help her spend it. So with nothing but fond memories of all of you and my
expiriences I bid you so long, farwell, Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight. But just like bret farvre says if they call me back because woody gets hurt it might be
too hard to say no.
