The List | ||
|
OK, I gotta start out by saying that I am impressed with the lists provided by my colleagues. InTheKnow really struck a chord with Midnight Train to Georgia.
All I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a Pip. LBJ thank you for your offer of further explanation.....but I think I got it. Beaker for Wild Thing, I
award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul. My list (in no particular order)
What Am I To You- Norah Jones- Because there is no way I can leave this one off my list These Arms of Mine- Otis Redding- I'm a little surprised that the Georgia Underwear Remover didn't appear on either of your lists Dreams To Remember - Otis Redding- the man's career lasted less than a decade and he has two songs that easily make my top ten and I've Been Loving You Too Long gets a high honorable mention. As a side note, if you can get your hands on Warren Haynes covering this Live at Bonaroo it's worth the trouble and will come in handy if you need to close the deal with...... a biker chick When A Man Loves A Woman- Percy Sledge- Simply because it has to make somebody's list and it may as well be mine Rainy Night In Georgia- Ray Charles- I prefer the Ray Charles cover to the original Brook Benton because....well because it's Ray Bring It On Home To Me- Sam Cooke- because the great sam cooke should be on this list somewhere Let's Get It On -Marvin Gaye- A great song and an all time classic that was almost ruined for me by the fact that it is Wally's ringtone and a Reese's Egg commercial Shake you Down- Gregory Abbott- just because of that time in high school when....anyway Shake You Down Gregory Abbott. At Last- Etta James- Jamesetta Hawkins can bring it My Last selection is Pretty Much Anything by Bill Withers- Aint No Sunshine, Just the Two of Us, Hello Like Before, Soul Shadows, I Want to Spend the Night ....they could all make the cut

The Gans List | ||
|
I don't know if I am disappointed in not seeing THE Artist for "CLOSING" songs or if he is just too "cliche" for this list. I also have not ever had a "closing" song, but there are some songs that have gotten my wife and I in a romantic mood. 1. Barry White-"Practice What You Preach" 2. Whitney Houston's version of- "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU" She loves it of course because of "The Bodyguard" and she does not like Dolly's version 3. Mary Jane Girls-"All Night Long" 4. Ray Charles- "I Can't Stop Loving You" this is a border song because of its country roots, but man it hits the old ladies heart. 5. Jagged Edge - "Promise" 6. Maxwell- I am taking one song from his first album "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite" which is full of "closing" songs-----"Whenever Wherever Whatever" my actual personal favorite is "Til the COPS COME KNOCKIN'" 7. ROME - "I BELONG TO YOU (Every Time I see Your Face)" 8. LSG - Gerald Levert- Keith Sweat- Johny Gill--The song that I picked from this late 90s colab CD is "MY BODY" I did want to choose "Let A Player Get His Freak On" but you said "closing" songs and not ones where my wife would just laugh. 9. Musiq - "143"-- stands for "i love you"

My "Anti Closing" Songs
|
OK, so what about songs you'd like to play when you just don't want to close? You know, those songs you want to blare when you've been
deni......um, when you chose to do something way better than ANYTHING involving that stuck up, no-good, ugly, good-for-nothing girl who couldn't even give
you 10 seconds of her time. I mean, everything's great when she's getting the free drinks but she's paying more attention to that other guy across
the bar. Mentioning moving in together may have been a little sudden, but you were just thinking of the future. Chicks like guys who think about the future,
don't they? Whatever, you didn't like her anyway.
Yeah.....what about those songs? 1. Motley Crue: Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) "Girl, don't go away mad. Just go away." 2. Eddy Clearwater: A Good Leavin' Alone "I'm gonna do us both a favor. I'm gonna give you a damn good leavin' alone." 3. Fishbone: Ugly "U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi. You're just ugly! U-G-L-Y, bet you never wondered why you're so ugly." |

Due to Beaker's influence over the years with his lack of political correctness, I will add this gem to the category of non-closing.
Prodigy - "Smack my ***** up" |

Get Some Help, Immediately

First, there is no such thing as "political correctness". In order for that to exist, there would have to be one agreed upon paradigm of behavior.
Any person of intelligence has to realize that certainly doesn't exist, nor will it ever exist (unless Huxley rises from the grave and creates his brave,
new world).
Second, what's with you man!?! I ask people to name their anti-closing songs and you pick one that mentions violence towards women. Get help. Now. |

Beaker, you assume too much from this thread. How many people here do you think actually understand what you mean by paradigm in that sentence? I'll give
you ITK but that's about it . . . Anyway, for anti-closing song, it doesn't get much better than F***ing Hostile by Pantera. If it has the opposite
effect of the anti-close, I suggest running away. FAST
