Here is a look at the top candidates. In my view, there are 8 teams in the mix for the 4 at large slots. 1. Vision (10th at Crossroads, 9th at SCVA and 6th at Far West). Vision has a strong 65% match win percentage in qualifiers (17-9) and the 6th place finish this weekend (just missed qualifying with a 15-13 loss in the 5th place match to San Gabriel Roshambo giving San Gabriel the last bid in Far West) should be enough to give them an at large selection. 2. Nebraska Elite (4th at Crossroads, 9th at NLQ). The 4th place finish looks strong as we comb through the teams in the running. One negative for this team is a relatively low winning percentage in qualifiers at 56% (9-7). 3. FJVC (9th at Big South, 5th at NEQ). Solid performances with the 5th place showing giving them a good shot. Lower win percentage at 59% is a slight negative. 4. Team Atlantis (4th at MEQ). Interesting choice here. Atlantis played in only one qualifier but they were a stout 7-0 before losing two tough 3 game matches to finish 7-2 and a 4th place. Defeated qualifier St. Louis CYC in pool play. 5. Cincy Classics (8th at Big South, 5th at MEQ). Decent squad but their 5th place finish came with a 5-5 record. 6. AJV (5th at Pacific Northwest, 11th at Lone Star). The 11th place showing might be enough to kick them out but their winning percentage in qualifiers is a solid 63%. 7. NORCO (7th at Crossroads, 11th at NEQ). Similar to AJV, 63% in qualifiers but the 11th place showing may be tough to overcome. 8. Synergy (10th at Crossroads, 9th at NEQ). 9th place finish as the best result makes this team a dark horse selection but they do have a winning percentage of 76%, second best to Team Atlantis for the at large candidates. After this eight, there are seven others to mention but these seven don't look like this will be their year to get the open division invitation. 9. Skyline Roshambo (9th at MEQ, 10th at Lone Star, 7th at Far West). 54% winning percentage 10. Delta Valley (4th at Pacific Northwest, 17th at Lone Star). A nice winning percentage at 67% 11. Coast (6th at Pacific Northwest, 11th at SCVA). 53% winning percentage 12. NVVA (5th at Big South, 10th at NEQ). 50% winning percentage 13. NKYVC Tsunami (7th at Big South, 11th at MEQ). 50% winning percentage 14. Niagara (11th at MEQ, 7th at NEQ). 47% winning percentage 15. Northern Lights (15th at Crossroads, 9th at NLQ). 53% winning percentage

Not many people outside So.Cal. are familiar with that team, so they don't get a lot of recognition.

Vision looks like a lock for one of the 4 At Larges. (1 win against the field that I know of) Nebraska Elite has a strong Resume as well, I believe has a couple wins against the Open field also. Mizuno Long Beach 15R and Champions Elite are in the same category to me. They both have top 5 finishes in qualifiers (two for Champions) at the club level and they both had solid performances in one qualifier at the open level. Long Beach 15R had a 6th place at SCVA but a 5-5 record. Champions Elite had an 8th place at NLQ but a 4-5 record. The fact is that all of the teams that have qualified have a win percentage in qualifiers higher than 50%. There are many teams with strong win percentages in qualifiers on the at large list. You can certainly make the argument that Champions Elite and Long Beach 15R could crack into the Top 15 list but to be getting one of the four at large spots appears to be too much of a stretch.

Registered Member Posts: 209 (04/28/08 8:41 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Gang - it's not wins in general but quality wins (and quality (bad) losses) ------ you get wins against a qualified team --- helps you ------ you lose to a team you should not......hurts you. that's it......qualifier finish and record - has nothing to do with anything....... start posting the wins against the field - and you will see --- amazingly - it's very tough to mount a lot of wins.......

They were eliminated from the gold round at Lone Star by two qualified teams, Tornadoes and AVA. Their only other loss at that tournament was to Skyline. They could possibly get one of the bids.
