Sunshine needs the win to avoid falling to 0-2 (so does Performance for that matter). Sunshine lost a three-setter to TAV, which then won a 29-27 Game 1 versus Laguna Mike before romping 25-10 in the second. The top three teams in this pool will qualify if KJ, which lost its first match to Golden Bear in three (Tarah Murrey the final kill), finishes in fourth in the other pool. KJ had a slight lead on Epic in Game 1 of their match.
In 17s, Southwest Illinois with Carly Thomas playing out of her mind defeated Vision in three, but then lost in two to Gold Cal, which is getting great work from Cora Harms and Molly Pon. KJ 0-1 and seeking a bid, is playing Vision now.
In the other pool, Sports Shack has suffered two heartbreaking losses to already qualified teams, Skyline and Epic. They will need to beat 0-1 WVBA, which lost to Epic in 3, to have a chance at a trickle down.
In 16s, Skyline got a big win over Vision behind the serving and blocking of Adrienne Gehan but fell to TAV, which improved to 2-0.
Golden Bear is 1-0 in the other pool after an exciting three set win over Central Cal, the first time GB has ever beaten its NorCal rivals. Central Cal turned around and won a marathon three-set match with Alamo, which featured a serious Alamo rally, 5 in a row, to tie the last set at 13-13. Willowbrok also defeated Alamo and is 1-0 in the pool.
TAV and San Gabriel are on a collision course to play for Pool 1 in 15 Open. San Gabriel won Game 1 versus Mavericks, which lost to TAV. TAV also defeated Mad Frogs for the Nth time this year.
Club West is in control of the other 15O pool after outlasting Skyline in three. Skyline also lost to City Beach.
