This may be a moot question for this season (and maybe we can apply it next season), but we were at a Power League tournament recently and it took us a good 3
hours to drive. In talking to other club parents and teams, some had to drive as much as 4.5 hours. When we looked around, it looked like only 1 team was
from the area, while the other 11 teams were from the South Bay, Peninsula, East Bay or North Bay. I know the economy is bad but this is no way to try and
jumpstart it. Would it be possible for NCVA to change to a different venue or find a more local gym for the 11 teams? I know gym time isn't cheap, but I
also know of many that don't use their facilities over the weekends, and it would be good for them to get some income during that time. If cost is an
issue, would parents and clubs agree to pay a few extra bucks to get it? I'm sure it would save each parent of each team $40+ on gas, $100+ on hotels, not
to mention the insane drive time. We have a young player who has fallen in love with club volleyball, so this might be beneficial for her (and us parents) for
the years to come.

We are in the mid central valley and in nine years of club this is the first time power league has EVER played in the mid valley. The closest we came was once
@ Modesto JC. Farthest? Yuba City twice in one season. Travel was just part of the commitment to play in the league. It is not unusual to hit the road AND the
wallet @ 4AM to make it to a league date and turn around and do it again the next day for daughter #2.
Now that Far Westerns is divided into two weekends... who likes the idea of a return to Sacramento? Hotel rooms in Reno are NO BARGAIN this year. We have always taken the whole club including the lower teams to this event to give them a big tournament experience to end their season, but there is serious discussion of dropping all but the gold teams because of the expense.

This is the first year in many that I can remember that we've had the venues so distant. In the recent past, Bladium and Hangar 12 provided many courts and
was centrally located (at least for the Bay Area teams). Between the two sites, I would guess there was probably 30 courts. That's comparable to 10 high
school gyms. Finding 10 high school/jr college sites that are willing to rent out their facility is tough enough. Some gyms that have held NCVA tournaments vow
never to do it again because they complain that the fees don't cover the cost for their janitorial service. And I'm sure everyone has seen what a mess
is left behind after the tournament!
If Bladium and Hangar 12 are never to be used again, then we all need to get used to the 3-4 hour drives (one-way). Does anyone know why those venues aren't available anymore? |

Maybe a charter bus service from Norcal??? Clovis Unified has an abundance of first class facilities that don't charge an arm, leg and your first born to
play. Clovis High 7 courts, Clovis West 7 courts, Buchanan High/Alta Sierra 10 courts, Clovis East/Reyburn 10 courts, Clovis North/Granite Ridge 10 courts
Clark Intermed. 3 courts. Kastner Intermed. 3 courts..... 50 courts no waiting

After the Kickoff I heard Bladium said thanks but no thanks. Finally straw. They still offer practice time.
We will see if maybe some of the Bay View Classic will be held there. |

I think the Hangars in Alameda just became a hazard. I heard something about always having to have the doors open because it was a fire hazard to have all
those people in there and not have an easy way to get out. Thus, having those doors open = ice cold playing facility. Not popular I guess.
