Sandy Abbinanti is a great administrator and leader, with high standards. She'll be a great commissioner for GLR. If officials want to register other
places, those other places are getting lemons. If anyone can get something done it will be Abbinanti.

why would national refs from the GLR register in other regions just because sandy is now commish? i would think that they would have less exposure to her
since she will no longer be the officials chairperson upon becoming the commish. somebody care to explain?

As a coach, player, and official in the GLR, I have had the privilege with working with Sandy. I appreciate the fact you always know where you stand with her.
The GLR officials are some of the best in the country and Sandy has quite a bit to do with that. I am glad to hear that she will be the commish and that the
GLR will have such strong leadership.

There was some great volleyball played this weekend at the JVDA tourney at Sky High. Congrats to First Alliance 16 Silver as they defeated Illini Elite 16
Cardinal in the finals. First Alliance beat Sky High 16 Black in one semi and Illini Elite beat Wisconsin Juniors in the other semi, so Sky High and Wisconsin
Juniors finished in 3rd. Sports Performance Sophs and Chicago Juniors 16 Jade finished in 5th.

Can anyone offer insight into which open qualified teams will be attending any of the local year end tourneys (Asics, PreNationals, etc.)?
And how about local teams going to AAUs? I am hopeful that there are some match ups between the strongest in our region (SPVB, Fusion, 1st Alliance, etc.) and open qualified teams. I can't help feeling just a little remorse that our region won't be represented in the Open division in any age group. |
