Volleyballwhat, I don't begrudge anyone from making a buck. Being from a Great Lakes club we are used to paying admission. You miss the point. After all is
said and done they decided to charge an admission, it was an after thought. If it was posted with the original info whats the big deal. The extra charge
won't hurt anyone, not a decision breaker as to go or not to the qualifier. We new up front Fusion would be charging. What was suprising is what they did
with the money by donating it. Being from a GL club everyone here is used to paying admission to tourneys. When I started going to qualifiers I was surprised
they didn't charge to get in.

Our team attended the Big South Qualifier and information regarding fees for the weekend was not published until days before the event same with NLQ. Although
we've loved not paying for qualifiers only AAU's and Nationals it seems to be the future of qualifiers. $15 a person certainly isn't going to keep
me from attending and cheering on our team after we've spent money for travel, lodging, food, rental car, parking, etc.

At nationals last tear, I was told by a parent from a Northern Lights team, that there would be a gate fee at the qualifier this year.

Not sure what is in store for us in Southern Cal this weekend but, since they play all over the place, I would imagine that it will be free for spectators
there too.

Why club teams go to qualifiers | ||
|
As the parent of a daughters who play in club division, I can still remember the first time each of my daughters walked into the large convention center and
saw all the courts. There is a real excitement that comes from being part of 160 team tournament playing on 64 courts in one location that local tournaments
(with anywhere from 2-8 courts tops) just can't achieve. Now, once you get to the 17's and 18's, you might wonder if it has lost that level of
excitement. However, for 14-16's, it is pretty eye-opening.

Just a note for Hawkeye VB and Ukie. NL doe snot own the facility you were talking about earlier. Midwest Volleyball Warehouse owns the facility and NL rents the practice facility from them. I also agree with the earlier post that basically said, good for NL. Wish we would have had that idea 15 years ago. I guess to me, it is worth $15 and much much more to see my daughters play. Those times will soon end and I am forever grateful to the USAV, JVDA, and anyone else who had something to do with giving me that opportunity. |

NEQ in Baltimore did not charge admission, but I believe they made up for it in concessions. $9 for a sandwich and drink!!

Wow. I think that people have the right to complain. There has not been any admission charge the last 4 years was there. To bump it up from FREE to $15 is a
bit much.

Hawkeye. I guess your right. You better stay home. Oh, and by the way, if your team is going to AAU's or USJO's, better boycott them. They charge at least double the amount per day! |
