Does anyone recall the format the NCVA uses for regional final? I can't recall if they have four team pools or three teams with cross overs on day one? thanks

My understanding is that there are 3 team pools on Saturday with a team from the top 12, second 12 and third twelve in each three team pool (snake seeding from
1 - 36). This is the only chance you have to move up or down to another division (Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc.) There is a crossover match Saturday afternoon
but it is within each division (Gold plays Gold, etc.) It's just for seeding for Sunday. On Sunday you just play the normal power league format within
each division.
I believe that's the format. |

I could be wrong, but I believe that you first play your 3 team pool. If you take 1st, you are guaranteed Gold division as you only play another 1st place
pool finisher for seeding. But I think 2nd place in one pool will play 3rd place in another for their crossover, for final Silver/Bronze determination. And
then, yes, on Sunday, normal power league format within each division.

That actually does sound correct. Why can't I remember this from year to year?? :-) (Could the mind be going?)

Thanks for the educated guesses. I thought they used three team pools but then thought that might require too many courts, etc...You know how it gets when you
try to think logically.
I'm hoping that they post points soon so we can obsess over who we play...I really do need other ways to spend my time. |

The seeding for the championships is based upon the Power League 3 results, including the top three teams from Aqua! For example 17s/18s Pool 11 - 1. Delta Valley 17-1 2. Asics Sports City Fighting Mermaids 17-1 3. Vision Blue 17-2 Correct me if I'm wrong... |

Not exactly | ||

The tournament field takes the members of the top three divisions after PL3, which means that the bottom three teams in Bronze get moved out of the field,
and the top three teams from Aqua move in.

Isn't it 72 teams this year | ||

I thought the format changed to include the top 72 teams this year, not just the top 36.

re: ncva regionals | ||

The NCVA Power League site shows the regionals divided into a championship section (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) and various Challenger sections (sets of 36 teams
in descending order of finish). The number of challenger sections depends on how many teams there are in each age division. The biggest difference this year
seems to be in dividing the dates of the regionals by finish in the league instead of by age. Used to be some age groups had regionals one weekend and some
another. This year the top 72 teams in each division play the first weekend, and the balance play the next weekend. The site doesn't talk about reseeding
within sections but I seem to remember it happening in years past.

Reseeding, eh? That shakes it up a bit. Thanks for the clarification.
