Respect for JVDA, PLEASE... |
Lead | |

Since the JVDA Showcase ended Sunday there has been little or no information about the finals (other than the 17's) and noting on this forum except
complaints about the venue and the tournament. Hows about someone getting some information about the 16's and 18's finals? How about coverage of the
gold pool matches from each age group? Were there all tournament teams? MVP's? How about players to watch? Come on guys, I know that this wasn't a
"National Qualifier" but lets be fair. There was some great volleyball played on Sunday and the teams playing represented a large percentage of the
top 25 teams in the nation! SPRI, Fusion, MAVA, KIVA, Team Z, 1st Alliance, Dunes and more. Your midwest subscribers want to know, "Why no
reports"?

One man, one keyboard and he has been under the weather. Hasn't seen his wife and kids all that much lately.....be patient. Everyone is entitled to a
little time off. It isn't even Tuesday afternoon in parts of the country and things wrapped up Sunday evening. The event took place in Wisconsin and the
guy (John) lives in Oregon. Cut the guy some slack. If you were there, share your thoughts. Allow the poor man some well deserved (what little he may get)
rest.

I understand that John is just one guy. I'm more interested in the observances of others in this forum. I had to leave early on Sunday and didn't get a
chance to see the championship matches.

I have to agree with both of you......let John recoup a little and some of the ones that were there could give us some nice updates. I would love to hear some
highlights.......instead of complaints. I have to wonder what kind of pressure the JDVA players are feeling when they come on here and read a lot of
complaints. It would be nice for them to log on and read about some excitement of the competition.......

Saw Mava 17 Elite and SPRI 17 Mizuno pushed to the limit on day 2. Both lost their first macth of the day. Had to come back and win one game playoffs in the
pm. Every match in the day 2 SPRI pool went to 5 games. Great teams evenly matched on day 2. No blow outs.

First day waste of time!
|
Ukie
You are right, the second day was very competitive. The first day was a waste of time. Why not split the field in half? The first day would be competitive and teams that finish 2nd in their pool the first day still have a chance to advance to the medal rounds. |

Which is better? Probably neither and it might be dependent on each team's perspective and it'll never happen where everyone is satisfied. |

Thursday: fly to venue; write Court Report on the way
Friday: event story or photos Saturday: event story or photos Sunday: one finals story Monday: travel back home Tuesday: transcribe notes Wednesday: write wrap up story Thursday: fly to next venue; write Court Report on the way Nuances this week: 1. Sleep middle of the day both Friday and Saturday because of illness 2. Driving 3 hours to and from the Dells because flying into Chicago is much cheaper. 3. Monday flight to Portland by way of Seattle delayed four hours from O'Hare because of bad weather in Chicago 4. Arrive in Seattle at 9:30 p.m. -- all connections to Portland done for the night; airline has luggage and will not pay for hotel room 5. Pay for room at Holiday Inn. Sleep in clothes. Happy to have hat 6. Leave for Portland at 8:15 the next morning. back home 13 hours later than planned. I have seen my wife and children less than 1/2 a day in the past 12 days. My eldest two have baseball practice this afternoon. I think I will defer transcribing to attend that. |

Stop complaining people!
|
Mr. Tawa,
Please accept my most sincere apologies for the impatience displayed by some on this board. You owe your family/children your first priority-the rest of us can wait. It is a shame that you be put in a position where you feel the need to explain your priorities. To those who feel the need to rant about the lack of instant gratification for the information you want-take a deep breath and nicely inquire to others on the board who might have been at the event...and if you have to wait for the "official" article, learn patience and read J Tawa's post as many times as needed to help you see the "big picture" more clearly. |

To VB15:
I'm not looking to John to provide instant gratification. As per my earlier post, I know he is a busy man and that ultimately family comes first. What I was asking for was some information from any one of the several hundred other people that may have seen more of the final days competition then I was able to. My frustration was aimed more at the other members here who found a great deal of time to complain about the venue and the tournament itself but failed to mention any of the play. My apologies to John and his family if my post made it seem that I were blaming him for the lack of information. Mr. Tawa, keep up the fine work and the fine reporting. To everyone else, if you can find the time to +%!*# you can find the time to report about the play. Yes, I understand that you may be biased in your reporting but any news about good volleyball is better then no news at all. Speak up about your daughters team. After all, its about the volleyball, isn't it? |
