No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, Earl. At the end of the Open list of teams they have the Select list of teams. I didn't even realize it
until TP pointed it out and I looked closer.

Bids at LoneStar | ||
|
With 6 or 7 Texas teams already qualified in 17open and several more from out of state that have already qualified, it looks like Lone Star could be a very
difficult tournament to secure an open bid in this age group this year.
Trickle down only goes to 6th, correct? |

17s with Bids | ||
|
So what will these teams with Bids play in at Lonestar? If they have a 17 open bid, will they continue to play 17 open or step up an age bracket to get some
additional experience? The current accepted team list has OP2 who already has an Open bid in the Club listing. What about the teams with national bids already?
Play Open or continue to play club? What would be the advantage of playing club if you had already won a national bid?

Re: Bids at Lone Star | ||

Don't know what will happen this year, but if I remember correctly last year at Lone Star in 17 Open (18s this year) 8 teams had previously
qualified. Six of them finished in the top 6 and since trickle-down doesn't go lower, no bids were given in the 17 Open division.
It was great playing, almost like Open at Nationals with the great teams my daughter's team played against, but no bids awarded. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. |

Last year, Lone Star asked all the qualified open teams to compete in a "super" open division but some coaches did not want to do that. I think it
would have been awesome.

So how about this year!? | ||
|
With 7 teams in 17 Open already qualified and 6 teams in 18 Open already qualified, creating a tournament with those 13 teams or even keeping them in their own
age group and playing 3 out of 5 since that's what they will play at JO's seems like a win/win for everybody! I do remember that
teams/coaches/fans/etc were very frustrated at Lone Star last year when the three day tournament was played in 17 Open and nobody went home with a bid. (last
year bids trickled only to 5th, so this year it goes to 6th. Not sure it makes much difference when at least that many teams have already qualified. Would USAV
allow the tournament directors to set up a tournament for the already qualified?

OP2 | ||
|
The team list I'm looking at has OP2 already playing club so that is 8 teams qualified - 6 Texas and 2 out of state (unless my eyes are playing tricks on
me - which is highly possible).
