In response to the water down comment...that is one reason the JDVA wants change as the first day is basically no competition to many of the top teams and to some it is a waste of time, money, missing school for a day of luckluster competition which drives costs up with both direct and indirect use of money.

In my opinion the OPEN division should not be watered down at all, it should be the highest level. By separating national and american divisions at the club level on day one at nationals then yes maybe a bit watered down after day one in the club division but not for day 2 3 and 4. And it gives teams the qualify early in the process to improve over time. Some clubs once qualified will drop out to reduce cost and train at home instead of attending another qualifer. Those that qualify club can still get into National division without speading a lot of money "chasing" if they came in second when you just say 2 (or maybe 4 if increased) bids are given in club qualifer rather than 1 National and 1 American.

One of the things I do like about the Tour of Texas is that you have the ability to move up down division based upon previous tourney results and by the final stop most teams are playing good even level matches by the final stop. However many teams have complained that they may face the same team each stop if they stay in the top tier or middle of the pack, but if they are in the top 8 then you are getting good competition better than what you may get somewhere else.

And for the record I am not against the JDVA itself but I think that its system definately needs tweaking as I do not think the route of 64 Open teams and stay in zone requirements meet the free market system that we have in the United States

Then why eliminate qualifers that do the very same thing...now you are just talking about more national events to spend money going to for just competition rather than securing a bid. Seems like you are taking something away for REASON A and replacing it causing REASON A to continue to exist. And if the possibility to allow for a free weekend with all regions playing power leagues would be very hard to find unless you can convince all the regions to become super regions and then REQUIRE them to play in specific power leagues for the right to compete at nationals makes it even less of a choice to the way to conduct your business than before.

The NCAA does however allow you to schedule who you want to during the season, and travel to play, which costs money...and the NCAA has conferences that the teams are a part of that USAV does not have, you can play within your region or outside all year long...it is YOUR CHOICE something that the proposal takes away from the clubs trying to exercise the free market system obviously at a certain price.


I have reread many of the repsonses and it was funny that one poster said that NL and MEQ were closer and harder so thay had to travel further to try and qualify....A CHOICE they made because the bid is the end all be all rather than costs. That club would likely not get a bid in the JDVA proposal because their region would be too hard...so they make a CHOICE to play elsewhere and every choice we make has opportunity costs associated to it...to them more travel $$, to a club who wishes to only play in one day and maybe regional events their opportunity cost is being able to compete for a bid.

The JDVA proposal whether directly or indirectly forces clubs to do certain things rather than have the ability to make the choice for themselves, if what the JDVA proposal is created based upon the standing of the position of reduced fees by eliminating travel requirements that were never REQUIRED but rather a CHOICE.

I have said many times...if you cant police yourself fine, just dont expect to police others because you cant....because the end all be all in life is not JO's it just made to be that way by certain parents, clubs, coaches etc.
