..der Fly but yous gotta get a picture on your posting....driving me nutz and believes me when I say datz a real short drivez...yous too long a member of dis board to be pictured with dat default Casper da Friendly Ghost picture...

Lets me know if yous need help...again the JRVB community is a close-knit family.

The BigSouth web site indicates the teams playing schedules will be posted the Tuesday evening prior to the tourney.

I am sorry but you seem to lack any knowledge of BigSouth or anything about putting on a large event. BigSouth currently belongs to Tampa Bay volleyball club, not the city of Atlanta. Your comment about distance between Tampa's club and their current host city makes absolutely no sense and I am with Tony, your desire to kick a group when they are down is pathetic. I wish the organizers all the best and am confident they will pull this off with limited problems. I will be in Atlanta and as is typical with volleyball fans, will be quite understanding of the minor glitches.

		Update on Entries / Drop Outs

			While we believe that things here are going very well (under the circumstances), I understand that for all of you "not knowing" details is difficult. Let me assure you that we are looking at every facet of this event and how it will be affected by this unfortunate situation. That includes hotels, transportation, food, play schedules, formats, venues, admissions, team check in, High Performance, safety, staffing, etc... We do not have all the answers yet... But we have every available person in Atlanta at our disposal working to make this happen. The most important thing was to wrap up facilities and then the rest can be finalized in the days to come. The goal of course is to transition as seamlessly as possible and to present to you the best event we can. Understanding that it is not going to be exactly the same -- Not for you, not for us, not for anyone. But it will be a success by al standards The most important thing is to wrap up facilities and then the rest can be finalized in the days to come. We will make announcements for the facilities once every one of them are in place. Hopefully this is today. The rest of the details you will know as decisions are made. We will not leave you in a lurch. DROP OUTS.... We understand that feeling uncomfortable about all of this may make some of you consider dropping out. At this point, we want you to notify us TODAY if that is the case. It is difficult enough to move this event, without having to reformat it every 4 hours. And if we only need to find 95 courts instead of 103... well, we need to know that as soon as possible. The no-refund policy is still in place as the event is going forward. So, if we do not hear from you today, we will consider that all teams scheduled will be attending. Thank you to those who have sent their comments of support. Although we are not answering all emails, we are reading them. Our entire staff thanks you. When you are here, please be sure to thank anyone with the city of Atlanta that you see. This would not have been possible without the efforts of the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, our hotel partners, the GWCC, THS and every individual person that they have pulled in as a resource.

	HP Tryouts & IMPACT Clinic

				HP Tryouts will still be taking place. Please stay tuned for the location. The times that were scheduled are the same. The same information applies to the IMPACT Clinic run by the Southern Region.

Here's my response to alvbfan:

SCVA: plays a big tourney in Las Vegas
NCVA: was in Sacramento, now in Reno
PNQ: thinking about Seattle over Spokane
Lone Star: Dallas, Houston and Austin
Crossroads: Was in KC for several years while convention center refurbished
MEQ: youngsters in Columbus this year not Indy
NEQ -- In Pittsburgh last year not Baltimore.

It is neither unusual nor valid to criticize a tournament because it chooses to locate other than where the Qualifier Director and host club resides.

In light of the act of nature that knocked out the GWCC, the better focus it seems to me is the amazing responsiveness of the Big South to the crisis and the swift action they have taken to see that the event, however changed, goes on this year. The skeptic out there will point to the profit motive as reason for moving so swiftly, but is that really germane? The important thing is the tournament is working round the clock to save the event for itself and ALL of those planning to attend. That is praiseworthy regardless of anything else.

I often return from covering a qualifier to a post or two that asks where the wrap up story is.

It doesn't matter that I traveled 8 hours on Thursday yet still wrote a 4,000 word story, worked 16 hour days all weekend covering the tournament and writing stories and posting updates on the message board or traveled all day Monday, exhausted, back to my wife and three small children. WHERE'S THE STORY?

Likewise with Big South -- if you consider the magnitude of the problem, just a little more patience and understanding is called for.

It used to be, just a short time ago, that you didn't learn who or where you were playing until the coaches meeting the night before.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to bid farewell for now to work on the MEQ wrap up.

I am so impressed with the constant updates and efforts being put into keeping this event moving forward. Smalltimer needs a reality grip. To criticize the fact that you don't know where you are playing on Tuesday is just petty. If you don't know where you are playing by the time the coaches meeting occurs on Thursday, THEN you can complain. Till then, focus on the big picture. The nature of ANY tournament of size means that changes happen right to the very last even under the best of circumstances. Big South still stands in my mind as one of the best run and most pleasant qualifiers.
