Seeding tournament | ||

The intent was to get enough in region data points for seeding, hence the name. If you have playing in region all along, they will have enough data on you. If you haven't played in region much at all, then there will be a problem because you will end up being seeded lower. That used to be a huge problem because some pools will have a ringer seeded fourth in pool. But the separation into Gold/Silver and Copper/Bronze divisions alleviated that somewhat.

here's another question | ||
|
Are the G/S seeding tournaments truly being limited to G/S teams ? (meaning no-waivers, etc)

If they have not changed anything in the time that I have been gone, here is how it should go.
1) Announce the schedule early enough to let the elite teams know when it is so that they can get in early. 2) Invite the top finishers at each age group to the tournament (OK, not a solid way to do it since kids change teams all the time, but you have to start somewhere.) 3) Accept all teams that finished near the top in the previous year's regionals and wait list everyone else, i.e. non-gold/silver teams, waiver teams, unknown teams. 4) Depending on how many teams signed up, fill out the rest of the tournament with the other teams with the waiver teams and the younger teams being at the bottom of the list in order to preserve the intent of having team from the same ages play each other. |

I don't think they let Waivered teams in, since they aren't playing Gold/Silver. Seeding tourneys fill up quickly. They generally don't need to add teams. The Gateway Festival is now another way for local teams to get results for rankings. Teams need to play their age bracket, of course.

These tournaments are serving there purpose. Even if all the top teams don't play, they are giving enough cross-reference points to validate strength of schedule and rankings. While the ranking system is not perfect (there is no such thing), it is doing a better job than the old seeding meeting use to do.
Phaedrus is correct in how teams are entered in these tournaments. Waivered teams have not been needed to fill G/S tourneys, however, one did slip in by providing inaccurate info prior to registration. |

Are the minutes from the Region's Junior meetings posted anywhere online?

The Minutes from the Jr Forum are usually posted shortly after the meeting on the region website. You can email the Region or Chris Clauss and I'm sure they would get them to you.

It oscillates between a WWE cage match and Bingo night at the old folks home. Rarely is it somewhere in the middle. Most of the time its the Bingo night.

TSL 18's didn't have the seeding tourney on their schedule. They have some travel commitments this month - nothing to do with paperwork missing or
basketball. Don't you love how rumors start

CEODDI. No rumor (paperwork-payment) heard it directly from a TSL parent. From another former TSL parent... the same thing happened last season.

#1 ranked Rockwood 161 is 18-2 on the season. I saw the one loss in the first match in seeding tourney last week. Just curious where the other loss came from?
Thanks. |

I believe Rockwood's 2nd (game) loss was to CYC 16 Green on Day 2 of Power League....

Forest Park being what it is, there was a lot of great volleyball played yesterday. I'm not sure on the demographics, but there seemed to be a good mix of
local and out-of-town teams participating.
Thanks to the CYC parents for a great selection of healthy and some not-so-healthy choices at the concession booth. So, what's next for everyone? |

Thanks everyone who came out. It was great to have some of the great Kansas City teams make the trip across the state and a few other teams from further away
in Illinois make the trip as well. I think it was a great tournament. The 16s final match was very exciting.
