It will all get sorted out in the end. Someone will have to be put into a pool of death, but the other cream will rise to the top.

It can easily happen. Instead of putting an L, the person accidentally put a W. I am sure that it was just a mistake. Unless there are more errors like that
one on their record...

I disagree with those that support the theory that seeding doesn't matter, just beat em all and rise to the top. That would be fine if there was only one
bid, but not with two bids. What often happens is the possible 2nd best team meets the eventual winner early in the brackets. They get bumped out and a team
that they could beat, or maybe even have beat in the past takes the second bid.
While it is virtually impossible to get perfect seeding, all attempts should be made to insure it's as close as possible. |

Seeding Doesn't Matter

If you have the best team in the tournament that weekend, they'll win. Period. That said, I agree that every attempt should be made to accurately seed the
tournament so that teams that have had past success can be rewarded for their hard work and good results.

team of the day gets knocked out by the best team of the day prior to making the finals a weaker team gets the bid. Period!

lifeguard - We wish it was that easy. There are tons of factors that may go into a win or loss on any given day...especially with teenagers. The better teams
can and sometimes do get knocked out during the gold round. Sometimes due to bad seeding there are "potential FINALS matches" being played out in the
second or third round before the finals. This is due to seeding. It can really hurt or help someone win a bid

Take a look at the Crossroads website:
http://www.coloradocrossroads.org They are streaming some matches from the exhibition court today. There is a link at the top of the page for the site with the video. I have been told that they are going to stream the men's match tonight with play-by-play. |

re: Seeding doesn't matter

Seeding is not an easy task and I'm guessing most people aren't asking for perfection yet I agree that seeding should at least reflect an effort to
"get it right". Our club submits scores on time and all match outcomes for our region are easy to find ... and we still can find our team seeded
80th when we finished 8th in the tournament the year before and are ranked below 15 or more teams we've defeated more than once. The "2 bid"
issue is an obvious factor, but even more common is a poorly seeded tournament with 3 very good teams in the same pool ... one team is dropping to the bottom
half early. We've had the experience of being the top seed in a pool only to find that team 3 or team 4 is outstanding ... and we've been a poorly
seeded team 3 or team 4 that surprises that top seed and has everyone concluding that we "must not have submitted our scores". Both situations are
frustrating.

bolliboll wrote: True, the better teams can get knocked out by the best teams. But,whining about seeding is just making excuses for losing. Get over it and remember this, the 13 seed and the 18th seed went to the 15 Open finals last year at Minneapolis. The 13 seed LOST their first TWO matches of the tournament. Why did these two teams go to the finals? The were the best teams, playing the best volleyball that weekend. Interestingly, the "bad" seeding was used as extra motivation for the kids. It really is that easy.... |

Lifeguard wrote: So when your team gets knocked out in the first round of Gold due to poor seeding setting you on a collision course with the top seed you should just get
over it. Even though there are teams ahead of you that your team has beaten several times before, you really should just stop whining. It really is that
easy.... to watch a weaker team that got an easier path take a bid.
