Okay, now I'm really confused as to how we got the number one seed. We don't have any head-to-head results with other Open teams, and have played
almost entirely out of our age group (mostly 16's teams). We have played only one other 14 team; the number 2 team in our region, beating them twice. They
are at Crossroads, but playing in the Club division. In the Fiesta Classic, we also beat a 15's team that is at crossroads, also playing Club. There may be
other older teams we have played that are at Crossroads; I just haven't looked them all up. If I get bored at work today (high probability), I'll do
that.
So the only thing I can think of that explains the huge disparity in seeding between us and Sunshine is that the teams they have played are not at
crossroads (and thus probably haven't entered data in STP), while some of the teams we played are in the database?
Gotta love playing a great team, right out of the gate, that has something to prove! 8:00am Saturday... Win or lose, I'll put the video up on-line, and
I'll be encouraging our girls to 'lace 'em up tight'!

Of our 18 matches so far this season, 7 of them were against Crossroad teams, and we are 6-1 in those matches (15-3 overall). |

The seeding is always a source of chatter on the message board especially at the first qualifier of the year. The bottom line here is that Sunshine has not played in enough matches to garner a high seed. I think that there are several quality teams in the 14 open field. Will know more about the seeding after the dust has settled on Monday. |

I agree that there is a lot information sharing on the message board. Many people have great insight on the teams involved but let's not kid ourselves and
think that what is said here will have any impact on future seeding. The seeding is done by a computer and is imperfect but it is probably the best way to
seed a tournament. All am saying is the seeding will be closer to what people expect after the first qualifier.

I also believe it is healthy to talk about the seedings and how they
are determined, because it helps to sort out how a complex process can be improved. When you pool the knowledege here, there is a lot of information on a lot
of teams, not all of it able to be input via spreadsheet. Comparing that knowledge with the seeding results, as well as the tournament results, just might find
a way to refine the seedings in the future. Seeding gets easier by the time JO's roll around, that's for sure.
