thats just rediculous that SCVC is the #2 seed overall in the tournament and Wave is a 3 seed in pool 5. Come on. Wave won Mandatory 1 and SCVC was in D2!

That last weekend in 14 open, TAV 14-1 was a 4 seed.... IN THEIR POOL... and yeah... they ended up qualifying. The seeding for this tournament has been
interesting to say the least.

In 17 open, they have Dallas 17 National and Dallas 17 Regional in the same pool. Aren't they supposed to avoid region conflicts when possible? Let alone
club conflicts! Come on people, a little common sense please

Doesn't look like the 16 Club Division is very strong.

PNQ....the seeding of Wave is hard to understand....then they lump Cal Jrs and Laguana in the same pool.....no reason for that with 32 teams playing...

This last weekend in the 14Open there were a total of 18 teams on six courts. It consisted of two pools with four teams and two pools with five teams. Each pool with five would go back and forth utilizing two courts depending on the schedule. I was very surprised when the #1 seed (in the five team pool) had to play three straight matches then a half hour break, then another match. They would then ref the last match. It certainly tested their stamina! It also seemed a little unfair for the teams in the five team pool because they only took the top two to continue in the upper division just like the teams in the four team pool. I am sure the schedules are set up by USAV but perhaps using the six courts with three teams each and cross-over matches would be more fair to all teams. |

There was another problem with the 14 Open structure last weekend. The Gold division of Day 2 consisted of two four-team pools. The top two teams from each
pool advanced to a single four-team pool on Day 3.
Therefore it did not make a difference whether you finished 1st or 2nd in the Day 2 pool. This set up the potential for a team to not care about the outcome of a match and even rest it's players to prepare for Day 3. For example, if a team was 2-0 going into its final Day 2 pool match, the team it was playing was 1-1, and the other two teams were already done and both had 1-2 records, there is no incentive for the 2-0 team to care about their final match, since they were guaranteed to get either 1st or 2nd in the pool and there was no meaningful difference between getting 1st and 2nd. I will say that this scenario never happened (it almost did), but the potential existed and would have been very unfair to the two teams that had completed pool play with the 1-2 records. |

Not to mention that the 8th seed (Wave) out of the field of 18 won the whole thing! Figure that seeding out...
