interest as well, I have letters from UNLV, LSU, and Colorado.
I am going to be a Sophomore this season, and not sure what to make of all the recruiting letters coming in. When do I need to start sending back the recruiting letters? I can't really send them back yet, as I have no idea what my high school and club schedule is yet, what do I do? |

Ok... I will be a sophmore as well. I have recieved about 16-20 college letters in the mail... what I do is the day I get them in the mail I fill out the questionares and send them right back... that is your best bet because that was the collges out there can know who you are even if you don't have your schedule yet! Just some advice! Anybody else??

well i have gotten anywhere from 35-45 letters (going to be a sophmore) and i say send the letters back asap becuase then the college knows that are are responsible. also if u havent gotten your schedules yet send them in later becuase the more things the college recieves from you the more times they need to open your file and the more they remember your name. good luck girls.

Yeah! College coaches mostly send you letters through the mail and every once and a while they will send you one through email. You will probably start recieving letters when you are in the 15's age group. Good luck!

Make sure you start talking to a coach...
I am not sure of the rules but i think you can always email them... give them your schedule or your player profile... tell them you are interested and invite them to tourneys... send out your tape... even as sophomores you can do the email thing even if they can't respond... dont be afraid to call them... make sure you do the work not your parents.. the colleges want to hear from you and find out about you as a player and a person... not your parents opinion of you .. bc whether you like it or not they are biased |

Questionairres in the mail DO NOT mean you're getting recruited. For the most part they only mean that the college knows that you exist. You are only a number in their database. YOU have to email and call them and contact them as much as possible so that you turn into a name in their database. THEN when you get to the point where you can actually really see and talk to them the real recruiting starts.

The gators have had a continually strong volleyball team, and their coaches are just amazing. I'm only in the eighth grade, but I know that is a strong choice for me! Also Colorado, Stanford, and Notre Dame seem like good choices too, but I have to play extremley well to get into those school (same with florida). I hope I can play as well as I am, because last year I was on the USAV select team, and I hope to be this year, too (I got on young for my age)!

I'm a senior and signed my letter of intent on November 9th. It was the most exciting day in my life. I'll give you a little insight into how I made my decision. I had full ride offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Kansas State, Alabama, Iowa and Louisville. The university I chose wasn't even on my radar at first. I made lots of unofficial visits the first part of my junior year. I fell in love with the university I chose. I knew right away this is the place for me.
My advice is this...fill out all those forms and send them in. Make a resume of your volleyball and high school accomplishments. Make a list of who you want to send it to and do it. Make sure you know who to send it to..ie coach's name. If a coach wants to talk to you, he will give that message to the club coach. College coaches cannot make any kind of contact with you but you can call them all you want. Except for that general questionaire letter, D1 schools cannot contact you until Sept. 1 of your junior year. If you are a sought after player, look out. My email box and our snail mail box was full daily at least for 3 months. They can email you all they want and if they want you, they will email you several times a week. But, they cannot call you on the phone. I think they can talk to you July 1 after your junior year off campus, but only after a tourney is over and you are released by your club coach. You can make as many unofficial visits as you wish (your buck) and this is really when you can examine things. Watch practices, watch the coaches during a match and how the players react. Ask as many questions as you can think of...academic support, how many days you might have to miss classes (you're a student first) because of volleyball, dorm life, healthcare, etc. I verbally committed in Dec of my junior year and never looked back. I'll be playing for a team that was in the Elite Eight NCAA Tourney this year. I am so excited. Good luck to all of you who are just starting the process. |
