Hi Welshwind, Thanks for pointing that out to me. After doing a little research into some journals of SLP on the web, it seems that there is some question as
to the efficacy of whispering as a form of vocal rest. The research of which I was previously aware suggested that it was beneficial, however, there is some
research that suggests that it may be harmful, as well. I would have to agree with the good doctor since it's better safe than sorry, and recommend against
it now, since it is...

We returned from Lonestar on Sunday. It was a 5ish hour trip by car. She did nap on the way home and went to bed early, but no begging off or coming home from

We consistently used hand sanitizer. WalMart have some 3 oz containers under $2 that clip onto her volleyball bag. She and the team help themselves after each

get an appointment with him was through contacts.

Vocal nodules are like calluses, polyps are like blisters. They can form on the vocal cords from the over exertion caused by using a loud voice constantly.
When we speak our vocal cords vibrate and contact each other; the more force we use to speak, the harder they contact. When nodules form, it often results in a
consistently hoarse voice because the vocal cords aren't able to come into even contact. The bump of the nodule prevents the vocal cords from contacting
each other evenly and...

As a Speech Language Pathologist, I would be concerned about your daughter losing her voice consistently and for long periods; a week is a really long time to
lose one's voice. Vocal abuse (using a loud voice constantly) can lead to vocal nodules or polyps (growths on the vocal cords that negatively impact
one's voice.) Vocal rest (no talking - only whispering,) lots of water, sufficient sleep, and cutting out caffeine can help in the short term. An ENT,
