North Texas Club 15's Tryouts this weekend

North Texas Club 15's tryouts are this weekend. It will be interesting to see where everyone ends up at. Many top girls not able to tryout due to they are still in HS playoffs. It will be hard to see them sit and watch tryouts. But congrats to all the freshman still playing in the playoffs.

We're preparing for our seeding meeting tomorrow and I need to get the final results on some leagues out of our section. Hopefully the prepvballers out there can help fill in the blanks that are missing on Maxpreps for the following teams/leagues - need to know the league champions for:

Sunset League (Southern Section): Did Newport Harbor and Los Alamitos tie?

Bay League (Southern Section): Did Mira Costa beat Redondo last night to win the league?

The Louisville/Southern Indiana Club Volleyball Drama

Can someone get me up to speed on exactly what is going on here? It sounds like coaches are flying from one age group to another, one club to another. What's the story with all of this and how did it all begin?

And can someone start to make sense of who is coaching where at each of the clubs?

Any info that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to start making phone calls myself as well.

So who are the teams to beat this year in the 14 open division? How do the teams look so far since most have had club tryouts? St. Louis CYC Green looks like a force in this division this year. Look for team Momentum 14 Navy to make an impact also. Those 2 teams should be up on the top of the list for the gateway region. What about some of the other regions?

I heard about it from a friend who received an email from her club director. No sure if it is a wrist ban for the whole day or what. SCVA stated that it was not their decision, but ASC's. Did anybody else hear the same thing?

High School Budgets and Athletics

So I see our local school district has a $6M budget hole next year. My guess is they'll ask for a referendum, and threaten to cut high school music and sports if it doesn't pass.

Just curious- anyone else here think that should be an automatic ticket to unemployment for the Super who suggests it? I'm guessing there are lots of ways to save money- including shortening seasons, limiting travel, cutting coach's compensation, and raising ticket fees in athletics-...

Gatorade Players of the Year

I am deeply involved in the Gatorade POY program for the several states and DC.

My goal this year is to make recommendations to Gatorade and ESPNRise as soon as possible after a state tournament concludes.

Congratulations to Jordan Erz (TVC 17-1) who has recently made a verbal committment to attend the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on a volleyball scholarship. Jordan is a senior at Carleton Airport. Jordan's goal is to study wildlife management and animal science and she was thrilled that UALR had her program AND a great volleyball team. Jordan is a Middle Hitter. Congratulations to Jordan!
